Pippin Class - Curry Rivel C of E VC Primary School

Pippin Class
Dear Parents
Please could we ask for a spare pair of trousers/skirt/tights for your child’s bag. Only we are finding with the
wet weather that many children are getting wet or dirty and require a change. Unfortunately, we are finding
that we just don’t have enough spare clothes in school to meet the demand!
Mrs Slade will also be taking the children on a walk on Monday so wellington boots will need to be in school. The
walk is to collect items required for Forest School activities that will be completed within the school grounds
over the coming weeks.
Many thanks - Mrs Conway
In Pippin Class this week we have:

Been reading the book ‘Aliens Love Underpants’! We have been trying very
hard to describe different types of pants by their colour and patterns. We
then used this to write a LOST poster for our favourite pair of pants from
the book.

Collected and sorted different types of pants and then worked out which we had the
‘most’ / ‘fewest’ of. Some of us also visited Maigold class to collect
data about their favourite pants from the book. We then used this
information to create a pictogram chart to work out the most and
least popular choices.

Sorted different sized pants from smallest to largest and hung them on a washing line,
we also tried to come up with different words that mean the same as small and large.

Used pictures from the story and learnt to orally re-tell it by ourselves or with a
friend

Used photographs of our faces and with paint turned ourselves into an alien!

Learnt that a group of stars is called a ‘constellation’ and then we made our own with
chalk, stencils and sticky stars

Walked around the school grounds collecting as many natural objects as we could that
would fit into a matchbox, we then counted and compared with our friends

Visited the ‘Aliens Love Underpants’ website and used the computer mouse to colour in
online pictures of the aliens and spaceship
