• JVT Pays Gross Receipts
JVT Pays Gross Receipts
• New Music Channels
One of the benefits of doing business with JVT is that the
company provides support to your local school districts through
a variety of sponsorships and donations, and through the
payment of gross receipts taxes.
• Get NFL RedZone
Each year your cooperative pays gross receipts taxes on all
the revenue that the company collects. These taxes are then
distributed to the school districts in each of the counties where
the revenue was generated.
And much more…
In 2010, JVT paid a total of $418,623 to thirteen area school
districts.

When making decisions about your telecommunications
purchases, take into consideration whether the company is a
local entity such as JVT who provides monetary support each
year to the schools in its service area, or whether it is in fact a
national or regional company who does not provide such tax
payouts. Shopping local pays!

Calling For Cash
JVT Sends Out Capital Credits Checks
This fall James Valley Telecommunications sponsored Calling for Cash contests at area football games.
One of the greatest benefits of being a member of a cooperative is the allocation and payment of capital credits.
Any fan attending the game could sign up their cell phone number for the chance to win $50! One number was
drawn and called. If the owner answered, they won $50 cash. JVT also provided a donation to each school
who hosted a contest.
Because JVT is a cooperative, any income above JVT’s expenses is allocated back to the patrons based on the
percentage of business that each customer does with the co-op.
Pictured below are Calling for Cash winners Chelsey Plamp (Frederick), Janet Wanttie (Roncalli) and Kandace
Stickler (Doland). Congrats to the winners!
Each year JVT members receive a notice of capital credits they earned during the previous year. This year
the notice was sent in September, informing you of the capital credits you earned during 2010 and what your
accrued balance was for the unretired years you have taken service.
In October of each year, JVT conducts a board approved capital credit retirement for a portion of the total
accrued balance. Your membership in JVT and your services purchased from JVT are the reasons you
are receiving the enclosed check. This year’s check is payment for accrued patronage with JVT at the
following percentages for the years listed:
• 2010 – 10% of accrued balance
• 1998 – 15% of accrued balance
Listen to the New Music Channels
In November JVT’s music channels will change giving you more channels with more diverse music genres.
Channels include Hard Rock, Hot Country, Big Band, The Spa, The Light, Dance Clubbin’, Everything 80’s,
Latino Tropical and many more. There will be 50 channels total compared to 45 now. We will publish a full music
channel lineup in the December issue of the Network.
The new channels feature a slideshow and song information throughout each song so you always know who
and what you’re listening to. So this holiday season, tune to one of your favorites!
To add cable TV dial 611 today!
Capital credit retirements reduce the cost of your JVT services. Every year that JVT is profitable, each
JVT member receives an allocation of profits based on the amount they paid for services in the prior year. This
effectively makes your cellphone, local dial tone, long distance, video, and Internet rates lower than what your
monthly billing indicates.
The more business you do with JVT, the more money you will receive back as capital credits.
JVT’s office will be closed Thursday,
November 24, for Thanksgiving.
Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
