January 2016 Often times crimes are solved or avoided because someone reported something to the police that didn’t seem just right. When you call and report suspicious behavior to the police, it’ brings police into our neighborhood. Working together is the only way to continue to have a safer neighborhood. You are not “bothering” or “bogging” down the 911 system, you are helping be the eyes and ears of our city officials that can’t be everywhere all the time. By having the report of suspicious activity, the police can approach a situation knowing that neighbors are concerned. Staying involved helps keep the entire neighborhood safer. Things to watch for include the following: • Vehicles cruising Often • High traffic at one home • Strange Odors • Open or Broken Windows • Loitering Persons Do your part and report any suspicious activity to 911. You may help deter a crime that is about to happen. Happy New Year Neighbors! As we begin this new year, we are excited to continue the positive progress we have began over the past year for the Buckner Terrace Neighborhood. 2016 Brings some exciting opportunities for the neighborhood. We are currently working on new sign toppers to identify and unify the neighborhood along with additional crime watch signage indicating that we have an active Volunteers in Patrol program. We encourage you to get involved with the VIP program if you can. You can volunteer only a hour a month once you have completed the one time training course. You will also notice we have translated the newsletter to Spanish to highlight neighborhood information with the hope of brining our Spanish speaking neighborhood members to be more involved. The homeowners association is here for all homeowners and we welcome your ideas and thoughts as we forge through this new year and improve our neighborhood. If you have not yet joined the homeowners association, it’s only $24/year/household. These funds bring more projects/progress back to the neighborhood. Again, Thank you for letting us serve you as your elected Co-Chair and Chair.
