Instructions for completing the MDC QSO Party Summary Sheet. Effective May 2013 This is a pretty simple form to complete. See the completed example below, after the instructions. Block 1 – Enter your personal information (Your name, call sign, mailing address, e-mail address, and county if applicable) Block 2 (“QSO Points”) - Enter the number of each “QSO Type” made in the “QSO Quantity” cell and multiply that number by the “QSO Value” and enter the result in the “Sub-Total” cell for each QSO Type. Add each of the Sub -Total values to determine your “Total QSO Points”. Block 3 (“Category”) – Indicate your operating category (You may select only one operating category). Block 4 (“Endorsement”) - You may claim a single endorsement to any operating category by placing an “X” in the cell to the left of the endorsement type. a. YL - You must be a female. In the Club category this endorsement can only be applied for if all of the participants were YLs. b. VHF/UHF Only – All of your contacts must have been made on the VHF and/or UHF bands. c. Youth –To claim this endorsement you must be under the age of 18 years at the end of the contest. The purpose of this endorsement is to encourage licensed youth to participate and to introduce unlicensed youth to amateur radio. So when you hear a youthful voice calling “CQ Maryland QSO Party”, take a moment to give them a contact and welcome them to the contest and amateur radio. Don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation. There are two types of Youth endorsement. Place an “X” through the appropriate endorsement: (1) L - This endorsement is for licensed youth who participate for the duration of the contest within the limits and privileges of their license and in accordance with the MDC QSO Party rules. (2) C - This endorsement is for youth (“Under-licensed” or unlicensed) who participate in the contest using the call sign and privileges of an appropriately licensed Control Operator (as defined in Part 97 for US participants). Also, don’t forget that US participants must abide by the “Third Party Rules” as defined in Part 97. Naturally, a licensed amateur who serves as a Control Operator may not submit a log for the MDC QSO Party for their own contacts. But you can let your kids or grandkids participate using your call sign. Block 5 (“MDC County and City Checklist”) - Indicate each County and City worked. Add the number of counties and cities worked and enter the total in the cell labeled “Number of Maryland counties worked” in Block 7 (“Multipliers, Bonus Points, and Total Claimed Score”) at the bottom of the page. Block 6 (“49 States and Canadian Provinces Checklist”) – Indicate each State and Province that you worked. Add them up and enter the total in the cell labeled “Number of States worked” in Block 7 (“Multipliers, Bonus Points, and Total Claimed Score”) at the bottom of the page. This is ONLY for participants operating in Maryland and the District of Columbia. List the DX countries you worked during the contest (except Canada) on the back of the Summary Sheet or on a second sheet. Enter the total DX entities worked in the cell labeled “Number of DX countries worked” in Block 7 “Multipliers, Bonus Points, and Total Claimed Score” at the bottom of the page. This is ONLY for participants operating in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Block 7 (“Multipliers, Bonus Points, and Total Claimed Score”) Step 1 - Add your multipliers and enter the number in the cell labeled “Total Multipliers” Step 2 - Multiply your “Total QSO Points” from Block 2 by your “Total Multipliers” and enter that number in the cell labeled “Sub-Total Score” Step 3 – Enter 50 bonus points for a single QSO with W3VPR.
