Frostburg Academic Affairs College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Philosophy 1: Upon completion of the major in philosophy, a student will be able to articulate the views of
prominent figures in the history of Western philosophy.

What is the method of assessment?
We use two distinct rubrics to assess the two history of philosophy courses around LG 1: rubric 1a for PHIL
202, History of Ancient and Medieval Philosophy (taught every fall) and rubric 1b for PHIL 203, History of
Modern Philosophy (taught every spring).
Who is being assessed?
For LG 1a philosophy majors enrolled in PHIL 202, History of Ancient and Medieval Philosophy; and for
LG 1b philosophy majors enrolled in PHIL 203, History of Modern Philosophy.
