Informal / Formal language
We need to change the way we speak and write depending on the message we
want to communicate and the person or people we want to receive it.
Writing is usually more formal than speech but informal language in writing
could be used when:
Personal letter to a friend or a character speaking in a story
Two friends talking to each other about a football match in the playground.
Oh my days, I can’t believe that team were
so rubbish man. We ain’t never gonna win
the league like this.
Task 1
Translate the above conversation into more formal language. Imagine it is a
manager talking to his assistant rather than two school children.
