Austinmer Pool maintenance
Work has recommenced on the maintenance of the south pool.
Response to letter to Andrew Constance NSW Minister for Transport
Ross Dearden updated the meeting in the waiting times with the new temporary timetable that includes some
stops at Austinmer.
The altered express services all arrive at Central at the same time as the October 2013 timetable except for 1
stop from Austinmer.
The return express services all arrive at Wollongong at the same time as the October 2013 timetable except for 1
that arrives 1 minute earlier.
Ross is completing a further comparison of waiting times with the previous timetable before October 2013.
The Thirroul Transport Committee will meet with Mr Gareth Ward at 4pm on Monday 4th April 2016.
Ann Baker from Bella Grace reported her concern that shop and business owners and staff are using the
2hourand 4 hour parking as their own private parking all day. Ann reported that she had observed this on a daily
basis and had spoken to the people concerned. Ann reported them moving cars around the car parks and staff
just swapping car spots after wheels have been chalk marked. Most staff are parking all day. Ann stated that this
had only happened since the introduction of the October 2013 train timetable.
Alden Murphy said that he will write to Gareth Ward. He has worked on the railways for many years.
Gilbert Hickey said he would also write to Ryan Park and Gareth Ward about the problems caused by the
October 2013 timetable.
Lucy Walton came with a list of parking problems she had observed around Thirroul, Roxburgh Street, Church
Street, during school drop off and pickup times, Old Lower South Coast Road, parking on both sides of the street
on the ramp to Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Station Street and Lawrence Hargrave drive. Lucy was concerned that
the ‘kiss and go’ no parking restrictions outside the public school in Roxburgh and Church Streets is not being
observed.
Lucy expressed a wish that ‘Roxburgh Street’ name is returned to its original name of Roxborough Avenue.
Lucy had rung council to discuss her concerns and was told about the NF3 meeting. Lucy thought that the
Wollongong Traffic Committee would be at the meeting. The meeting agreed that the parking in Thirroul needs
urgent attention.
Ross Dearden reminded the meeting that the bike path between south Thirroul and Sandon Point needs some
attention as it is unsafe in wet weather.
Ross Dearden also expressed concern that the timed parking should not be in place for 24 hours.
A meeting to discuss the Blockage Policy Review to consider new recommendations will be held at Wollongong
Council at 5.30 on Thursday.
Ross Dearden mentioned about the proposed round about at the corner of Arthur street and Lawrence Hargrave
drive. When will this be considered?
Meeting finished at 8pm
