Wine list All our wines are certified organic or biodynamic as we believe that they strive to maximise their expression of terroir or ‘sense of origin’, the idea being that there is nothing extra in the wine to interfere with its purity. Fragrant, lively with a crisp finish. 102 Spain Petit Albet Chardonnay/Xarel.lo 2010, Albet I Noya The influence of the indigenous Xarel.lo makes this an altogether different wine-drinking experience. It's zippier than a straight unoaked Chardonnay and much more invigorating. 103 Chile Adobe Gewürztraminer 2010, Emiliana Orgánico An aromatic wine (helped along with a splash of Sauvignon Blanc) with hints of orange blossom and candied citrus fruits. Something completely different; this is an engaging wine with a vibrant finish. 106 Austria Burgenland Grüner Veltliner 2010, Meinklang B Grüner Veltliner is an Austrian grape variety that's steadily increasing its fan club beyond the wine critics and sommeliers. A wine that will charm you with its mineral freshness, green fruits and zippy, slightly peppery finish. Excellent. 104 N. Zealand Cawte’s Cave Sauvignon Blanc 2009/10, Rock Ferry £24 Invigorating, super-fresh Sauvignon Blanc with zesty green fruit, bright acidity and just the lightest touch of sweet passion fruit on the finish. 105 Italy Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico 2010, Barone Pizzini B £25 From the east coast of central Italy. Striking citrus fruits with the attractive nutty flavours for which Verdicchio (grape) is rightly famous. 108 France Bourgogne Cote d’Auxerre Chardonnay 2009, Bersan £28 Burgandian class with good balance of acidity and fruit and an underlying richness that make it a wine for all seasons 107 France £30 Sancerre 2010, Christian Dauny A classic Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Refreshingly clean, grassy grapefruit and granny smith fruit, all complemented with just the right amount of acidity. It soft and approachable with flavoursome black-fruited character. 301 Spain Tempranillo/Cabernet 2009/10, Azul y Garanza Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon work very well together in this lively Navarra red that is only very lightly oaked. The fruit is rich and red and the tannins well taken up by the ripe fruit. 302 France Côte du Rhône 2009/10, Château Rochecolombe Fantastic blend of old vine Grenache and Syrah grapes, with nose of spice and wild strawberry, a mouth full of black fruits, serious weight and black pepper spice 303 Argentina Malbec 2010, Domaine Jean Bousquet You can pick up the vanilla and spice that the oak brings without losing any of the fantastic black plum, blackberry and dark cherry fruits that Malbec is famous for. 304 Chile Novas Cabernet/Merlot 2008/10 Emiliana Orgánico £26 Cherry and strawberry fruits aplenty in this striking Chilean red. The palate has an inviting cream and mocha edge. A wine that is sure to have you reaching for seconds. 305 Italy IGT Maremma Toscana Sangiovese 2009, Barone Pizzini £27 Soft and finely textured Tuscany red with a gentle spice and savoury edge. A complex wine yet approachable and lends itself to a long evening spent unravelling its intricacies 306 Austria Burgenland Pinot Noir 2009/10 Meinklang B £30 Pinot Noir is thriving in the Austria and this excellent, biodynamic example shows what it's capable of here. Ripe, red cherry fruits define the palate and are neatly intertwined with soft tannins. Very seductive indeed. 307 France Puisseguin - St Emilion 2007/08, Chateau Beausejour £32 A classic St Emilion made from 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon is the blend. Nicely textured wine with balanced, lightly-grainy tannins that make it a great wine for food. 308 Australia McLaren Vale Shiraz/Viognier 2008/09, Battle of Bosworth This blend of Shiraz and Viognier is all about delivering a perfumed wine with real finesse. Fermented together the Shiraz (93%) is tempered by the slightly floral qualities of the Viognier but the wine still brims over with chocolate-laced black fruits, liquorice and spice. A powerful wine. B – Biodynamic Wines supplied by Vintage Roots £34 20 Argentina Rosés, Sparkling & Champagne Glass 125ml Glass 175ml Bottle Malbec/Cabernet 2010, Domaine Jean Bousquet £4.30 £5.30 £21 A rosé with a difference. It's a pretty salmon pink colour and there's an abundance of fresh, red fruits on the nose. 01 Italy £5.60 Prosecco Spumante Extra Brut, Cantine Giol £23 Full of persistent bubbles with a pronounced nose of white-fleshed fruits. Delicate and finely structured with biscuit and apple palate 02 France £38 Champagne Blanc de Noir Brut NV, Maison Fleury B Made from only Pinot Noir grape. Excellent mousse carries a fresh and lively summer pudding fruits nose. Good backbone acidity, elegant and delicate with depth of flavour. 30 N. Zealand Dessert wine Glass 100ml Late Harvest Riesling 2010, Rock Ferry Vineyards (37.5cl) £5.90 £25 £4.60 £22 An opulent desert wine that has layers of ginger, summer orchard fruit, citrus and vanilla beautifully woven through. Refreshingly sweet. 31 Argentina Fortified Malbec 2009, Domaine Jean Bousquet (18%, 50cl) This sweet, 'port-like' Malbec is really quite special. It has intense aromas of black fruit, roasted coffee, melted chocolate and spice; mere suggestions of the explosion of flavours that follow on the palate.
