The Ripple Effect The Character of God Does Not Change!

The Ripple Effect
The Rock
Hebrews 6:13-20
What would it be like to make ripples for God?
The Ripple Effect
1) The Rock that makes the ripple is not me!
There is no Rock like our God. (1 Sa 2:2, NIV)
For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? (Ps 18:31, NIV)
God is the rock in this every changing world!
The only way to navigate a changing world is to hold on to an unchanging God.
Rock Solid Unchanging Realities:
The Character of God Does Not Change!
For example, there was God’s promise to Abraham. Since there was no one greater to swear by, God took an oath
in his own name, saying: “I will certainly bless you, and I will multiply your descendants beyond number.” Then
Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised. (Heb 6:13–15, NLT)
God isn’t capricious - His holiness never changes
God isn’t irrational - His wisdom never changes
God isn’t fickle - His love never changes
“I the LORD do not change.” (Mal 3:6, NIV)
The Condition of the Human Heart Does Not Change.
Now when people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any
question that oath is binding. (Heb 6:16, NLT)
The only guarantee of the human heart is that the human heart is unguaranteed.
"For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." (Rm 3:23, NIV)
The Authority of God’s Word Doesn’t Change.
God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would
never change his mind. So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable
because it is impossible for God to lie. (Heb 6:17–18, NLT)
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever. (Is 40:8)
We are bombarded with information every day, but we are starving for wisdom.
The Power of Prayer and Worship Does Not Change.
Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.
This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner
sanctuary. (Heb 6:18–19, NLT)
When we work, we work; but when we worship and pray - God works!
The Superiority of Jesus Christ Does Not Change.
Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest… (Heb 6:20, NLT)
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Heb 13:8, NIV)
Jesus is the hope of the world - and that’s not changing!
The Mission of the Church Does Not Change.
Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. (Heb
6:20, NLT)
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the
very end of the age." (Mt 28:19-20, NIV)
Ripples are made one person at a time.
