HOLIDAY HOME WORK FOR ENGLISH
1. On a Scrap Book file, find out and paste good articles on the following topics
and make a collection on the same:
 Environment
 Pollution
 Natural Hazards
 Man-made disasters (along with solutions to all these or suggestions)
Minimum number of articles to be pasted- 10 to 12.
2. From your Enrichment Reader Book, make a glossary of difficult terms based on
these topics and write them in your scrap file.
3. Read a famous book by any of these famous authors and write a brief book
review.
 R.K Narayanan (Malgudi Days, Swami and Friends, The Guide and so on)
 Ruskin Bond (The Room on the Roof, The Blue Umbrella, Rain in the
Mountains and so on)

established their trading centres in India. On an outline map of India, mark the trading

Complete the given assignment on A4 sheets :1.
If there is a zoo in your city, visit it. Note down the names of all the animals and
birds that you see there. Also note where the animals are originally from. Have the zoo
authorities tried to match the surroundings of each animal to its natural habitat? For
example, does the hippopotamus have a pond it can wallow in? Do the monkeys have
trees they can swing from? Are the enclosures clean? Do you feel animals should be
kept in zoo?
Go online and check the website “The Electronic Naturalist‟. This website
provides plants and animals information with illustration, and access to a naturalist
with “ Ask a Naturalist.” The URL is : http://www.enaturalist.org/.

In India, coal is mined in the Chhota Nagpur Plateau. Many people are employed
in these mines, including children. Collect pictures that highlighted the working
conditions inside the mines. Paste them on a chart. Write a slogan demanding better
