December 2015

The final month of 2015 has already arrived! Following a
very full November, December will continue to be just as
busy and fun-filled!
Preparations for our P1 - 3 Nativity are well underway.
Separate information has been sent out with tickets and
costume requests to our infant parents. Dates are on the
right of this Newsletter as a reminder. I’m sure it will be a
wonderful show!
Christmas Parties are also noted on the right. Please note a
change of days for the P5 and P6 Parties.
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf
of all staff to wish our children and families a
very special festive season and a very happy
and healthy 2016! We look forward to seeing
all pupils back for the new term which begins
on Tuesday 5th January 2016.
NEW PUPIL REGISTRATION
Registration for new Primary 1 pupils takes place during the
week beginning 11th January. Parents of pupils who are
due to start Mossneuk after the Summer should contact the

12/1/16 - between 1.30pm - 2.30pm
13/1/16 - between 9.30am - 11.30am
A parent should register the pupil and should bring with them full birth
certificate for the child as well as two proofs of residence.
PARTNERSHIPS WITH PARENTS
A massive thank you to everyone who came along to support
the Christmas Fayre on Saturday. There was a great turn out
and an excellent atmosphere. Thank you to the members of
the P.T.A. for organising the event as well as all the parents,
carers, family members and staff members who helped out on
the day. Thanks to the contributors to the hampers and other
raffles - they also looked great - and well done to the winners!
The Thank You Tea will take place on Thursday 10th
December at 2pm (please note the change of date). We invite
all parents, family members and other helpers that have
helped out in the school this session, in any way at all. Please
join us for a coffee or tea, cake and some festive
entertainment.
Each pupil from Primary 1 - Primary 7 will be attending
Aladdin the pantomime at Eastwood Theatre before Christmas.
Funds donated to the school by the P.T.A. last session will pay
for this visit, with only a £2 contribution towards transport
being requested in a separate letter this week.
This visit to a real theatre will be a great learning
experience for all children...oh yes it will!!!

OUTRIGHT DAY - A very Spanish Experience!
Friday 20th November was our RRSA Outright Day in school, with a
Spanish theme. Pupils looked great dressed in red and yellow! Thanks to
Mr Kemp and his team for organising it!
Here’s what some of our P5a pupils thought about it...
Today Mrs Thompson came in to
teach us Spanish. I learned that
blue is azul and green is verdes. I
also learned that “como te
llamas?” means “what is your
name?”
Khalil
Today we did Spanish food tasting. I quite
liked the Spanish bread but I did not really
like the chocolate brownie. I found the
cheese very disgusting but I swallowed it
down!
Samee
Mrs Bannerman taught us some Spanish
dancing. We copied her. First we did a
warm up, then proper dancing, then a
cool down at the end.

these possible!
All money will be added to the Christmas
Fayre total!
HOMEWORK HOLIDAY FOR DECEMBER
As detailed in a recent Parentmail, the tradition of
having no homework at Mossneuk in December
continues this year. As December is such a busy
month with other festive and family events, formal
homework is put to one side.
Reading and phonics continues for our younger
pupils and we would also encourage our
Accelerated Readers to keep up the hard work with
that too! Other pupils should be encouraged to
continue to read for enjoyment at home.
Normal homework routines will recommence in
January.
