They use dip nets in the sound and pond to find out more about the biology of the various creatures that creep, swim and crawl on a barrier island. The Rising Kindergarten Only Camp June 8-10 Due to popular demand, we have created a half day camp just for rising Kindergarten campers. This camp will run Wednesday June 8 through Friday June 10, 9:00-12:00 daily. Register early-only 30 spaces available. campers then have the opportunity for a closer Junior Counselor Program! look, as we keep some of the marine organisms Summer Sound to Sea will offer the Junior Counselor Program again this year. This opportunity is available for former campers in rising 7-9th grade. We have three spots open for each session of the summer. Our Junior Counselors will team up with an instructor. They will have leadership responsibilities like helping to get activities ready, playing games or choosing which rousing song to sing! They will get to fish from the sound, net in the pond and explore the forest perhaps even running some of the activities! Of course the end of their day will be hanging out with kids either at the beach or the pool. What could be a better way to spend a summer afternoon? The cost of the program is $200. Don’t forget to bring your own lunch, as we will eat on the pavilion Summer Sound to Sea style! found in the sound in our on-site aquariums. The campers also have the chance to explore the maritime forest and learn about the animals that live among the cedars, live oaks and pines. In the afternoon, campers use items they have collected on the trails to create all kinds of art and music. And lastly, no beach camp would be complete without some time on the sand. So each camp day finishes with water time either on the beach or at the pool, to rest and think about the day’s activities. THEME WEEKS Icky Creatures: Investigate the unique characteristics of “icky” creatures native to our island while dispelling myths about them. We Will Survive: Find out how plants, animals and people survive the harsh conditions of the barrier islands. Water Wonders: Take a closer look at the water habitats of our barrier island.
