The Sanctuary
The sanctuary is the area of the church, elevated from the nave
floor, in which is found the altar, ambo, tabernacle, and
presidential chair. The green Carrere marble from Italy, outlined
in Mexican brown/amber marble, forms an eight-pointed star. A
symbol of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the star is green representing
the green pastures of Psalm 23 from which the Lord restores our
souls, leads us in right paths, and prepares a table for us. (cf. Ps
23:2-3, 5)
Five steps lead from the floor of the nave to the predella, or
floor of the sanctuary. Four additional steps are ascended to the
ambo, and three more to the tabernacle. Five loaves blessed by
Christ to feed 5000, four Gospels, and three Persons in the
Trinity. 5+4+3=12, the number of apostles. The way of the gospel and of the Eucharist leads to the true God who feeds us with
his Word and Body; the apostolic way of the Church.

Bring a fellow Knight to one of our meetings. Bring new ideas and new
thinking about how our Council can grow in Charity, Challenges, and
Camaraderie.
Quote from ‘Knights to Christ’
…Christ founded the Church to “teach all nations all that I have commanded
you (Matthew 28:20).” No other institution can claim the moral authority to
speak in regard to life than that authority which Christ himself endowed the
Catholic Church… Therefore, we show ourselves to be most fully in touch with
Christ… when we too proclaim and defend human life from conception until
natural death no matter the circumstances in which it comes into being and
no matter the actions of any single individual.
~ Monsignor Edward L. Buelt, Pastor, Our Lady of Loreto
