Calder Park Legal Off Street Drag Racing Safety
Calder Park has reviewed our racing regulations. These rules and regulations have
been put in place to make Calder Park as safe and pleasant as possible for all
competitors and officials. At all times whilst on the premises, you must comply with
these rules and regulations.
All competing vehicles must meet the Calder Park Scrutineering Standards. In the
event of any disagreement on whether your vehicle meets our standards the final
decisions rests with the chief scrutineer.
General Rules and Regulations
Please check the following before entering:
• Radiator overflow bottle fitted
• Accelerator return springs fitted
• Batteries must be securely clamped
• All Firewall holes are to be sealed
• No loose items inside the driver/passenger compartments. All other items must
be secured inside the vehicle’s boot or be removed
• Sealed parcel shelves / rear bulkhead for any vehicles using N2O
• When Nitrous Oxide is in use an identifying sticker must be placed on the left
side of the windscreen and externally signifying the location of the bottle.
• The approved sticker is yellow with N2O printed in black
• Tail Shaft Loops are required for cars running quicker than 12.99 seconds (1/4
mile) and have a one piece tail shaft.
Roll Bars/Cages
All vehicles running 11.00 second (1/4mile) or slower are not required to have a roll
cage but may be fitted if you wish to do so.
All vehicles running between 10.99 and 10.00 seconds and under 140 mph (1/4) must
be fitted with single roll over hoop.
The hoop must cover the full width of the driver’s compartment with 2 bolted back
stays and a bolted side intrusion bar. Utilities may use a 4 point roll cage with
intrusion bars/ diagonals on both sides and single diagonal in the main hoop.
All other vehicles running faster than 9.99 seconds or 140mph are required to be fitted
with a full 6 point roll cage.
Parachutes
All vehicles exceeding 140mph (224kmh) must be fitted with a recognised
manufactured Parachute.
All vehicles exceeding 200mph (320kmh) must be fitted with a recognised
manufactured dual Parachutes.
Safety Belts/Harnesses
Sedan slower than 11.99 Seconds (1/4 mile) - minimum of lap/sash three-point
type required complying with Australian Standard E35 or AS2596.
Sedans quicker than 10.99 (1/4 mile) or faster than 110 mph (176 km) - minimum
of four point harness that complies with Australian Standard E35
Sedans quicker than 130 mph (208kmh) and slower than 200mph (320kmh) minimum of five point harness (incorporating crotch strap) must be compliant
with FIA Standard 8853-98 or SFI 16.1
All Cars quicker than 200mph (320kmh) must have a 6 point Harness fitted
meeting SFI 16.1 with a minimum width of 75mm (3 inches) no older than 2 years
or FIA Standard 8853-98.
The Harness must have the manufactures date and or expiry date.
Safety Helmets
All racers must wear Safety Helmets when entering, racing and leaving the race track.
Wait until you have stopped your vehicle before removing your helmet.
Safety Helmets must comply with the current Australian Standard.
Protective Clothing:
Sedans quicker than 10.00 (1/4 mile) and all vehicles with fabricated
firewalls/front floors and those with non factory windscreens require
A Driving suit meeting SFI-3.25A/5 or higher or FIA Norme 1986 or FIA Norme
8856-2000, and Fire resistant gloves, shoes and socks and Supportive neck collar
for all vehicles quicker than 7.50 seconds (1/4 mile)
Sedans slower than 10.99 (1/4 mile)
Long sleeved upper garments
Full length trousers
Closed toe Shoes and socks
All Motorcycles
Full leathers only.
Leather boots extending at least 275 mm from the base of the heel
Leather Gloves
Note: DENIM OR KEVLAR NOT ACCEPTABLE
Other Regulations
Licence: A current full or probationary Australian driver’s licence is required to
compete.

Competitors must follow all speed signs and officials directions at all times.
Mud Terrain and All Terrain Tyres are not permitted.
40kph speed limit on back straight and a 5kph speed limit dummy grid and
staging lanes.
Street Cars, only the driver and one crew member is permitted past the end of
the staging lanes.
Any use of a mobile phone whilst on the Race Track will result in eviction
from the event.
No persons under the age of 16 are allowed in Competition areas.
No shorts, ¾ pants or thongs/open toed shoes in competitions areas – only
long pants and closed in shoes.
All competitors and crew must not have/had consumed alcohol or any illegal
drugs. Random Breath tests will be performed throughout the Event.
If you fail to obey the rules you will be asked to leave the premises.
Fuel Safety Requirements

Fuel can only be transported in approved containers.
These Containers must
1. Have appropriate sealing cap
2. Be made of metal or durable plastic that will not react with the fuel
3. Be clearly labelled or marked to identify the fuel and the potential
hazards.

All re-fuelling must be done in the fuel bay.

Hereby agree that I have read and understand all of the above rules and regulations set
out by Australian Motorsport Club Pty Ltd. I acknowledge that the Chief Scrutineer
and/or his delegate have the right to stop my vehicle from racing due to any safety
concerns at any stage during the event. Refunds will not be given if safety regulations
are breached either directly or indirectly.
