After months of planning, I’m pleased to announce that our new community safety service, Rockingham SmartWatch, is now out and about on our streets. The highly visible vehicles are on patrol seven days a week. If you can see the car, the camera can see you, and if need be, so can the police because the cameras have the ability to live stream to Rockingham police station. For more details please have a look at the back page. I’m also very pleased to be able to show you some artist’s impressions of our two new sporting facilities - Singleton Sports and Community Centre at Laurie Stanford Reserve, and Golden Bay Sports Pavilion at Rhonda Scarrott Reserve. You can find out more about these exciting projects on page 3. Local government elections were held in October, and we have a few new faces on Council. You can meet all your Councillors on pages 8 and 9. I’d like to thank all the residents who voted. It’s not compulsory in local government elections, so thanks for making your voice heard. Your votes are important, so all of us on Council hope to see the number of people voting increasing over time. There’s been lots happening throughout the City, so please enjoy catching up on all the latest in this edition of the Chronicle. I hope you have a great summer here in the beautiful City of Rockingham, where the coast comes to life.
