2009 Highlights
• A record number of 547 volunteers donated
over 15,755 hours to AFC. The value of this
donated service was over $816,000.
• Volunteers provided outstanding medical
care for 1,614 needy Arlingtonians.
• AFC’s pharmacy provided 15,321
prescriptions, an increase of 14% over last
year. Estimated retail value of medications
was over $2 million.
• Since the beginning of 2009, AFC has
seen an unprecedented increase in demand
for care. Comparing January and July, the
number of individuals coming to AFC
seeking to become a patient increased by over
200%.
• Our newly implemented Nurse Practitioner
(NP) program began providing primary care
appointments 5 days a week. The NP not
only offers same/next day appointments for
current AFC patients with acute care issues
but serves as the primary point of entry for
new patients.
• The Twelfth Annual Gala, “Elegantly
Green,” October 18, 2008, continued our
strong tradition of success by raising over
$550,000 for AFC’s programs.
• AFC was once again selected by the
Catalogue for Philanthropy as one of the best
small nonprofits in the DC metropolitan
region.
And Last But Certainly Not Least…………..
• AFC relocated to our new permanent
home on Columbia Pike and hosted a
wonderful grand opening celebration that was
attended by almost 200 supporters, including
volunteers, funders and elected officials from
the County and the Commonwealth.
