Cabinetry Specifications
1.
Construction type: 6.
Doors: 2.
Materials: 7.
Edge Banding: 3.
Top Coat: 8.
Heat Shields: 4.
Drawers / Roll outs: 9.
Shelves: Our cabinets are called European or frameless style which provides 20% more storage than face frame cabinets at the other big box stores. All cabinet part connections use the wooden dowelandglue construction method while the box is clamped together. This makes the box substantially more stable than flat pack cabinets. Doors add approx. 7/8" thickness to depth of cabinet. Example: 24" deep base cabinet is 24 7/8" deep. Our cabinets have ¾” thick top and bottom mounting rails to safely attach your cabinets to the wall. Our cabinets are 3/4” high density engineered wood except the back which is 1/4” thick. They are available in White or Light Wood Grain melamine finish.
Topcoats are one of the largest off gassers in your home. Our topcoat is zero VOC waterborne and Ultraviolet (UV) cured to be one of the best top coats on the market. UV waterborne coatings provide a much harder finish than solvent and oil based coatings. All top coats, stains and paints are water borne and GREENGUARD Certified to be safe. Our drawers are soft closing! They are white epoxy coated metal sides with 3/4” melamine engineered wood bottoms and 2" Shaker Doors are available in Cherry, Maple and Alder (domestic hardwoods). Center panel of shaker doors is MDF with veneer wood. Drawer are solid wood slab. Slab (flat) doors are available in Thermofoil (PVC) or painted MDF. Thermofoil runs vertically on doors and horizontally on drawers. The backs of thermofoil doors are melamine to coordinate with cabinet interior. Doors and drawers require alignment adjustments at the end of installation before handles are installed. Our cabinets have durable PVC edgebanding. The open cabinets with finished interiors feature veneer edgebanding.
Heat shields must be installed between cabinetry and heat producing appliances. A pair of Heat Shields are included packed in the Sink Base with each Thermofoil order. Failure to install heat shields where cabinet doors will be exposed to high temperatures voids their warranty.
Shelves are 3/4” thick and match the cabinet interior. Shelves are edge banded with PVC on the face edge. Shelves rest on 11
backs. They have a 50 lb capacity and softclose guides. Drawer box used for short drawers is 3 3/8” high. Tall drawer heads 11 7/8” & above as well as the rollouts are 5 7/8” high. Drawer box depth is 19 5/8” . All drawer fronts will be slab (flat) style, even on shaker orders.
5mm metal shelf pins. Shelves in open cabinets with finished interiors have edge banding finished to match. Shelf holes are bored in the cabinet at 32mm 1 1∕4” increments. Wall and tall cabinets have full depth adjustable shelves. Base and vanity cabinets have 14 7/16” deep adjustable shelves. 5.
Hinges: 10.
Toe Kick: Our cabinets come standard with soft closing, 110 degree, fully concealed, 6way adjustable, clipdemountable hinges.
Base and tall cabinets include 3/4” sub toe kick dowelled into the cabinet end panels. Toe kick covers are required.

Design Tips
1.
Appliances: 6.
Accessories: 2.
Moldings: 7.
Stacking Cabinets: 3.
Toekicks: 8.
Sinks: The first thing to do when planning your kitchen is choose your appliances and look at the specification sheet (found on the manufacturer's website) to see how much clearance they need above, below and to the sides as well as their exact dimensions. Refrigerators, cooktops and under cabinet hoods are ALL different sizes. Dishwashers and stoves are standard sizes. Plan for your cabinets to be at least 1.5" shy of touching the ceiling and the walls. Order our 6" wide "Molding" so your installer can cut it to fit in this space. If you want the molding to be flush with your doors you will use two moldings applied one on top of the other.
Use our 6” molding as your toekick molding. It’s extra tall to be fit on site. At the ends of base cabinet runs wrap this molding around the corner of the base cabinet and put our Base Panel above it. Plenty of accessories for your cabinets are available online or at traditional box stores. To keep Mod’s simple and keep our prices down we recommend waiting until you receive the cabinets, measure the size you need, then order the accessory. If you are stacking cabinets and the wall side panel is not tall enough, you can order a tall side panel. When planning for your sink, take the cabinet base width and subtract 2”. This is the max width your sink basin can be. 4.
18” Above Countertops: 9.
Want a Wine Rack?: 5.
Refrigerator Doors: 10.
Want a Book Shelf?: You need 18" clear above your countertops for most cities to be code compliant. This means your light rails are 18” away from your countertop (not just the cabinets) When putting a refrigerator next to a wall look up the spec to see how much space you need between the refrigerator and the wall to allow the door to open and drawers to be pulled out. Do you want a base wine rack? Order our Base Cabinet #2 or the Base Full Height #3 and simply up an accessory like this one in http://amzn.to/1FcbYfV. Your wine will be behind doors. For exposed wine bottles, you can use the same advice for the bookshelf.Your bottles might stick out a little past the adjacent doors. Do you want a base bookshelf? Order our Wall Open Cabinet that is 30” tall (#25) and build a toekick out of 2x4’s. This toekick is covered up by the 6” molding used for the toekick. 13
Checklist When Ordering Mod Cabinetry
1.
Getting 2 Different Finishes?: Each different finish you want (example white painted wall cabinets and cherry shaker bases) is a SEPARATE order. Fill out a separate order form with all of the cabinets and parts you want for that specific finish. 5.
Custom Panels (#43):
Our custom panels are finished on both sides and all ¾” thick edges. Order custom panels for any application you need the perfect size panel that is finished on all edges. To calculate your custom panel cost, multiply your width in inches by your height in inches and then divide by 144. This will give you your square feet. Multiply your square feet by $21 for thermofoil and $35 for paints and stains. 2.
Crown Molding (#39)
: 6.
Glass Strip: (#47): 3.
Light Rails (#39)
: 7.
Heat Shields (#48): 4.
Side Panels (#40, #41, #42):
Order 6” molding everywhere your cabinets touch the ceiling, touch the walls and touch the ground. This will be cut to the actual size on site AFTER the cabinets are installed. Order 1.5” molding if you want to put lights under your wall cabinets (remember you need 18” clear above your countertop). If you are ordering cabinets prepared for glass, order the rubber strip in the addon’s section. The rubber strip goes behind the glass to hold it in place. You can buy glass at any local glass shop. Bring in the doors to them or measure the size or your holes (subtract ⅛” from all edges so you can slip the glass into the opening). Thermofoil orders If you ordered a sink cabinet a pair of heat shields will come with that cabinet. If you did not and you have an oven, order a set of heat shields. Our cabinets are NOT finished on the sides. Everywhere you can see the side of the cabinet, order a wall, base or tall panel. They are oversized to be cut down on site. Our side panels are finished on all ¾” thick edges and ONE side (to keep your costs down). If you want panels that are finished on both sides, order our custom panels. 14
