Contractors Contacting Kindergartens
Sometimes you may get contractors contacting your kindergarten directly to use their
services. There have been some instances where air conditioning contractors have been
fraudulent but are contacting the kindergartens to undertake maintenance work. The only
companies we use for our air conditioning units are Abode, Hot Chilly and B.W O’Brien and
Company If you are unsure of the validity of any contractor you can contact Lorraine at the
office to check.
WINZ Subsidies
These subsidies are effective the day the application form is received by the WINZ office. If you
have a parent that is making application to WINZ for an Early Childhood Subsidy you can email
the application form from the kindergarten direct to [email protected]
WINZ will use this email as the date the application is received. This will mean that, if eligible,
the payments will be made from the date the email is received rather than the date the
application form is received through the post. If you have any questions please contact
[email protected]

Just an update to last week’s information about the grant Jan is applying for to NZCT. NZCT
cover certain areas and some Kindergartens will not be eligible for this grant. This is a list of the
areas that NZCT cover:
Kapiti Coast District
Porirua
Wellington City
Apologies to those Kindergartens outside their funding area. Just a reminder the grant is for
educational resources only. You will need to provide Jan with two quotes for the
resources. Catalogue pages are not acceptable.

Learning Support Pilot Project Starting Soon!!!
We are ready to start our exciting Learning support Pilot Project, we are starting small and will be building on the project over the
next two years.
Initially we will be working with 7 teachers with an Early Intervention/Specialised teaching (EIT) qualification and a cluster group of
4 kindergartens from one of our regions. The intention is for the cluster work with kindergartens to take place over two terms and
then a new cluster group will begin.
The planning of this project has been carefully thought out to ensure that we provide support to teachers who have completed
Early Intervention/Specialist Training. This will then assist them in supporting the teams in their geographical area.
To support sharing of information across the Association a number of Regional Network Meetings will be held and the expectation
is that at least 1 teacher from each team will attend these meetings. These meetings will include sharing of working being
undertaken by EIT teachers and the cluster group, and will include a PLD element.
Annette Collings (ST) will be contacting the teachers and teams concerned over the next week
Hutt ECE Sustainability Network
Celebrate Sea Week at the Common Ground Community Arts festival
Wednesday 1st March 3.30-5pm
(Where: Common Ground Hub, Lower Hutt CBD - 49 Queens Drive. Here's a map. It is in walking distance from the bus stops at
Queensgate and car parking outside the Dowse and in Myrtle St, if you can't get on Queens Drive and Knights Rd. Another option
is the Riverbank car park. These are 5-10 minute walk. There is a parking charge of around $4 depending where you park.)
Please note change of date. We have been given the opportunity to link in with the Common Ground festival.
All Hutt ECE teachers are invited to share ways to celebrate the Sea Week, find out all about the Common Ground arts festival:
Groundwater - and the way artists are engaging with our water ways; and unpack the ECE Enviroschools resource Drains are for
Rain. How can our tamariki take action to protect our water ways?
