Introduction & Usage Guidelines
The following pages contain a list of available tissues and glands.
Products are listed alphabetically with available species/ages listed to the
right. Some items may have a number in parentheses following the listing of
the species/ages, i.e. (1); this indicates that there is a photo sheet of this item
in the photo gallery on the page number listed in the parentheses.
Animal Technologies collects tissues at slaughterhouses that are either
USDA inspected facilities or the equivalent. All of the slaughterhouses that
we collect at are preparing meat for food production for humans. Animal
Technologies does not own these facilities; we have agreements with these
establishments that allow us to come into their facilities and make our
collections. Our 20 plus years experience in working with these facilities
gives us the ability to collect orders to meet specific requirements within
USDA regulations.
Ordering Guidelines
When ordering tissue you need to plan on a minimum of 24 hours lead-time.
Some specialty and custom orders may require longer lead-times. It is
always best to call in your order as soon as you know what you are going to
need and when. Orders may be placed up to 6 months in advance.
Placing Orders
You can place your orders a couple of ways – phone call, email or by fax.
Ideally, it is best to call in your order so we can make sure that all of your
specifications can be met. If you do place an order by email or fax please be
sure to include contact information just in case we have any questions
regarding your order.

Descriptions of species and sizes:
PORCINE
Fetal Pigs –
Fetal pigs do become available from time to time. Orders taken for this age of animal are filled as the fetal pigs
become available.
Small Animals – Market Size
These animals generally weigh less than 250 pounds and are usually between 6-9 months old.
The tissue from this size animal is preferred for most medical equipment demonstrations.
Large Animals – Retired Breeder Sows
The animals in this category generally weight 450 plus pounds and are usually over 2 plus years old, with the
average age ranging between 4-6 years. Occasionally retired boars may be available.
BOVINE
Fetal Calves –
Tissue collection from fetal calves is available on a regular basis. Whole fetal calves are also available for
purchase.
Special Calf –
The animals in this category are usually between 8 – 12 months old. These animals are not available on a regular
basis. Orders taken for this age of animal are filled as the animals become available.
Normal Bovine –
The animals in this category are older than 12 months but younger than 30 months. Regular collections from this
age group are done weekly. Both steers and heifers are regularly available.
Mature Bovine –
The animals in this category are older than 30 months. Due to BSE risk, there are some restrictions on what tissues
can be collected.
CHICKEN
Regular weekly collections.
DONOR ANIMALS
We have donor horse, bovine, goat and donkey available for blood product collections. These are special
collections so please call for details.
