(Red Hat Ladies not in picture-Mary Mims) B I N G O! Sunset loves the kids from Blessed Sacrament School – what a fun day J From the Chaplain’s Desk The Black Dot (Author is unknown) One day a professor entered the classroom and asked the students to prepare for a surprise test. They all waited anxiously at their desk for the exam to begin. The professor handed out the exam with the text facing down, as usual. Once he handed them all out, he asked the students to turn over the papers. To everyone’s surprise, there were no questions---just a black dot in the center of the sheet of paper. The professor seeing the expression on everyone’s face’s, told them the following: “I want you to write about what you see there.” The students confused, got started on the inexplicable task. At the end of the class, the professor took all the exams, and started reading each one of them out loud in front of all the students. All of them, with no exception, defined the black dot trying to explain its position in the center of the sheet. After all had been read and the classroom silent, the professor started to explain, “I’m not going to grade you on this. I just wanted to give you something to think about. No one wrote about the white part of the paper. Everyone focused on the black dot----and the same happens in our lives.” We have a white piece of paper to observe and enjoy, but we always focus on the dark spots. Our life is a gift given to us by God, with love and care. We always have reasons to celebrate nature renewing itself every day, our friends around us, the job that provides our livelihood, the miracles we see everyday… However, we insist on focusing only on the dark spots ---the health issues that bothers us, the lack of money, the complicated relationship with a family members, the disappointment with a friend, a disagreement in the church, the world’s social problems. The dark spots are very small when compared to everything we have in our lives but they’re the ones that pollute our mind. Take your eyes away from the back dots in your life. Enjoy each one of your blessings each moment that life gives you. Be happy and live a life filled with God’s love. Blessings, Rev. Dixie L. As we all know the primary purpose of the Food Service Department is to provide our residents with nutritious and tasty meals that comply with their diet. We are continually revising our recipes and products to improve the taste and quality of our meals. We are now on a menu rotation where we will have fall/winter and spring/summer menus. Fall is such a beautiful time of year and with it brings the holiday season. We will have a traditional Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day. Our Christmas Tea will be hosted by Kohl Wholesale and will be on Wednesday, December 7th from 2-4pm in the Main Dining Room. Resident’s Christmas Meal will be on Thursday, December 15th in the Main Dining Room starting at 11:30am. A traditional Christmas Meal will be served at lunch on Christmas Day. If your family members want to join you on Thanksgiving or Christmas day for lunch, they may purchase tickets from the front desk. Lunch for family will be served through the employee cafeteria. There are tables in the Villa View where they can eat. Over the past year we have been so fortunate to have Kohl Wholesale host the “TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME” cookout. Not only did we have the traditional Hot Dogs, but we had cotton candy and funnel cake. A good time was had by all. I want to thank the Auxiliary for helping us purchase a new refrigerator that is a great asset to our department. I would like to encourage everyone to come to our Food Committee meeting which is held in the Villa View Lounge at 1:00pm on the third Tuesday of every month. This committee is designed to not only look at any suggestions that you may have, but also for us to look at new ideas for different food items that we may include in the menus. I also want to do some taste testing on new items that are available to us. You may contact me any time at ext. 379 or my e-mail address is [email protected].
