Dear Parents/Guardians, We are pleased to inform you that we have

Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are pleased to inform you that we have been able to purchase a set of GCSE revision guide/workbooks
(one joint book) for the OCR Gateway GCSE course your child is following in Science. The book covers both the year
10 Core Science GCSE and the year 11 Additional Science GCSE. As each revision guide contains a workbook this
means that, once written in, the book cannot be re-issued to be used again by another student. We feel that having
a revision guide is a good aid for supporting students to achieve their target grade and as such can also be used as an
independent study tool.
We are able to purchase these revision guides at a highly subsidised price and can supply these to your child for £4
(retail £10.99) which we hope you will agree is good value for money.
Please return the reply slip below, with payment, to your son/daughters Science teacher.
If your son/daughter is eligible for free school meals they will be provided with a book free of charge.
Please see information overleaf regarding the course structure of GCSE Science and key GCSE exam dates
Yours sincerely
Claire Daly
Head of Science

Controlled Assessments; in their Science lessons, students will have three weeks to complete the controlled
assessment. This is sufficient time to complete the tasks to a high standard. Part 1 of the controlled
assessment is a research task and this may be completed at home and will be the homework set during the
time frame outlined below. There will be a catch up session after school every Wednesday for controlled
assessments but ONLY for a student who has been absent or does not have access to the internet at home.
