WESTERN ON THE PENINSULAS
From the Director’s Desk
Western Washington University on the Peninsulas is committed to
serving the specific higher education needs of the West Sound region
and we are uniquely positioned to do so. Since our offices opened
on the OC Poulsbo campus in 2014, we have established roots in the
West Sound Region and we are now off and growing!
In only two years Western has helped bring more degree programs,
more faculty, and more students to grace the halls at OC Poulsbo.
We currently serve 124 third- and fourth-year students across six

to enter our degree programs as juniors.

New Collaboration
WWU will work with the Poulsbo
Marine Science Center beginning in
2016, expanding and elaborating upon
the fine programs offered there.
Partnerships
Our work has been advanced through partnerships with Olympic
and Peninsula Colleges. By maximizing the strengths of two
community colleges and a university, we are able to show clear
education-to-profession pathways. Peninsula residents now
have access to higher education beginning with Running Start,
Community College, and University, and then continuing with noncredit professional development and lifelong personal enrichment
courses. Articulated programs have students completing their first
two years at one of the community colleges and their second two
years with WWU.
