It puts him in storytelling mood - Bob’s one of life’s raconteurs - all the while trying to decide what to do about Ethel, and whether his life’s work done. Is he finished? Explore the incredible standard of work produced by National 5 and Higher Art & Design pupils from across East Renfrewshire Secondary Schools in this exhibition. Examples of expressive and design units will be on display, as well as portfolio pieces that demonstrate incredible talent, imagination and creativity from the future generation of artists. S pri n g 2 01 7 Ex h ib ition s Photograph Kim Simpson VISUAL ARTS ARTIST IN RESIDENCE WaterWorks Barrhead Since Summer 2016 James Gow has been artist in residence at the Waterworks, Barrhead; winner of ‘Best Environment Project’ in the National Lottery Awards 2016. During his residency, James has engaged hundreds of members of the local community and general public in creating lasting and transitional art work on the site. James has developed specific projects in partnership with primary and secondary schools across East Renfrewshire, supporting the curriculum whilst creating a legacy of artwork for the site that reflects the evolving natural habit. Specific seasonal art activities have included an eco-art camp during the summer holidays, willowweaving, pumpkin harvesting and carving. It takes us into the American mid-west in 1955 and tells the story of Natalie, who dreams of “hitting the road” and Chad, a rock ‘n’ roll loving biker, who stops at the town’s garage to have his bike repaired. Natalie, the mechanic, immediately falls for him. The show follows all the “will they won’t they” drama, set to a fabulous score full of those wonderful Elvis songs we know and love. There are of course a few hilarious hiccups and surprises along the way, building to a fantastic triple wedding finale.
