Zoning Requirements:
- A pool is defined as any structure intended for swimming or recreational bathing that contains water over 24
inches (610 mm) deep. This includes in-ground, above ground and on-ground swimming pools, hot tubs and spas.
- Outdoor swimming pools shall be permitted only in the rear yard. Pools must be a minimum of 10 feet from the
rear lot line, and ten percent (10%) of the width of property from side lot line (8 foot minimum)
- The pool shall be constructed so as not to interfere with sewage, water or drainage of the lot or of other lands
- Lighting shall not be directed at neighboring property.
- The water of such pools shall be maintained at all times in a sanitary condition in accordance with the bacterial
standards of the Sanitary Code of the State of New York.
Electrical Requirements:
- Swimming pools shall not be placed under any overhead service conductors. Placement of pool is the
responsibility of the installer. A free site inspection is available by calling RG&E at (585) 724-8666.
- The applicant is required to call 1-800-962-7962 for underground utility stakeouts before digging to place
underground electrical conduits or pool.
- Electrical wiring must be inspected by a recognized inspection agency, at the expense of the applicant.

Self-Set / Inflatable Pools:
Self-set pools, also known as quick-set or Inflatable pools (not rigid metal walls), are required to have a protective
barrier at least 48 inches in height completely surrounding the pool regardless of the height of the pools top edge.
-Fencing when required must be 10' from the pool waters edge.
-Pool Alarms are required regardless of pool construction type.
