Teacher Resource Bank / GCE Classical Civilisation / Resources List: Unit 3 / Version 1.0
INTRODUCTION
The following pages contain a list of suggested resources. These titles and publishers are
correct as at going to press. This list will be updated annually. Books which are known to be
out of print have not been included, although these may continue to be of use to centres which
already have copies.
The resources included in this list are not to be regarded as set texts. They have been selected
as examples of the types of resources which may be found useful in dealing with topics
specified in the specification. Wherever possible we have included materials of varying
complexity to meet the needs of different students. It is not envisaged that all of the material
listed will be used. The list is clearly not exhaustive: new books and electronic resources in this
field are appearing all the time. Teachers are advised to consult current publishers’ lists and to
inspect any book before ordering a class set or copy for the library / resources centre. Reviews,
often by practising teachers, in the Journal of Classics Teaching published by JACT may also
be a useful guide.
The resources are suggested as background reading to encourage candidates to develop their
own views of the prescribed primary source materials listed in the specification. AQA does not
necessarily endorse the views expressed in these resources.
The 13-digit number in each reference is the International Standard Book Number (ISBN).
