During play we have endless opportunities to address these skills and we have success because the children are engaged and motivated. Take the game above: Pie Face Who isn’t going to have fun anticipating a face full of whip cream?. The last time I played this game during therapy the goal was irregular past tense: I spun 4, I got 6, It hit me, It hit you. It’s also a fantastic game for improving referencing and emotions (e.g. I’m nervous.) Summer Groups and Camps This summer we will be offering weekly groups as well as a few summer camps. Our “Back To School” groups will be made up of similarly aged kids, working on common social language goals. Since summer is often unstructured, our camps will serve to prepare kids for school life re-entry. Some of what we will do includes: Summer recap and shares (including creating materials to share at school) How-tos (sharing summer events/experiences with others, learning and rehearsal) Playing team sports and group games (getting ready for recess and lunch time) Cool, amazing and funny (developing sets of jokes, facts and things to share) Hope and advocacy (wishes and needs in the coming school year) When signing up, please let us know the following: which camp you are interested in, and what time range you and your child are available during for that week (for example: “Camp 1, we can come between 10am-3pm every day”). We will do our best to finalize a 1.5 hour block that works for all group members.
