FFA Organization
The FFA is a national organization of students
enrolled in high school vocational agriculture classes.
The local unit is the chapter in each high school
offering vocational agriculture, under the supervision
of the agriculture teacher who is always the chapter
advisor. The state unit includes all chapters in the
state, under the supervision of the state department of
education as represented by the bureau of agricultural
education with its headquarters at the state education
building, Sacramento, California.
The national unit is the group of associations in each

JUDGING:
At every opportunity the value of the blue
ribbon should be stressed. The blue ribbon
represents, or should represent, the
perfection for which the Youth & Teen
exhibitors are striving with their products.
The educational and moral value of
achieving this perfection should result in a
future economic return which will be far
greater than the immediate return in the form
of cash awards.
DANISH JUDGING SYSTEM will be used
for exhibitors ages 5 through 18 in all
contests. It is based upon established
standards of quality for each type of product.
In this system each exhibit is judged
according to how well it meets that standard
rather than how it compares with other
exhibit.

to provide information to exhibitors,

able to do a better job in the future. We
are witnessing many changes and
different opinions in the beef industry
today as to what constitutes the ideal
market animal. Variations in yields of
retail cuts among beef carcasses are
accounted for mainly by the amount of fat
that must be trimmed in preparing the
cuts, and thickness and fullness of the
muscling.
