December Newsletter
Festival of Trees...Congratulations on a wonderful performance! It was a new
experience for all of us...bravo!! There were a couple of kinks that we'll work out for
next year but, overall, it was a fun experience and a great way to volunteer for a
good cause! So proud of all of you!
Christmas Open House...Our Christmas Recital will look a bit different this year:
CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2016
1:30 & 3:30 pm
Trinity Lutheran School Parish Hall
515 S. MacArthur Blvd.
Springfield
We will be playing in the same combos as our Festival of Trees
performance. :)
Each family is asked to bring a treat to share. Drinks will be provided.
Our Open House will be "cafe-style" with informal seating available for you to mingle
while listening to some holiday favorites.
Please RSVP with your choice of times as soon as possible. Thank you!
Needed: Open House Elves...We are in need of some "elves" to help with our
Christmas Open House! We will be busy playing music...so elves will be very
important in making our Open House a success! Parents are welcome to assist the
elves! Listed below are the jobs available. If you are interested in "applying" for one
of these jobs, please let us know right away!
1.
Decorators. These elves will come early to help set up and decorate the tables
and treat area. We have purchased some decorations, but we're open to
additional ideas. They would need to arrive by 12:45 pm.
2. Greeters. These elves will pass out song lists to visitors and explain the seating
and treat area. They will need to arrive at 1:00 for the first recital and 2:45 for
the second recital.
3. Treat Area Supervisors. These elves will watch over the treat area as families
bring goodies to share. They will make sure there are plates and napkins available
and keep the table neat. They will need to arrive at 1:00 for the first recital and
at 2:45 for the second recital.
4. Drink Servers. These elves will fill drink cups and refill the punch bowl when
needed. They will need to arrive at 1:00 for the first recital and 2:45 for the
second recital.
5. Gift Helpers. These elves will pass out Christmas gifts as students finish playing.
They will need to arrive at 1:30 for the first recital and 3:00 for the second
recital.
6. Photographers. These elves will be in charge of photographs of our Open House.
We could use at least one photographer at each Open House. They will forward
photos to Mrs. M for use in our studio, on our website, and on our Facebook page.
Christmas Group Lesson Week...Our next week of group lessons will be held during
the week of December 19-23. Sign-up information will be emailed separately.
Christmas Break...Christmas Break will be December 24-30. The studio will be closed
that week.
IFMC Festival...The dates of the IFMC Festival are:
Saturday, Feb. 25...Piano Concerto & Hymn Playing
Sunday, Feb. 26...Piano Solo (Pre-Primary - Primary 4)
Sunday, March 5...Piano Solo (Elementary 1 and higher)
While these dates seem far away, we all know that the time will rush by. Please be
sure that you are giving your pieces regular attention (another word for "practice") so
that you will be ready early. Early preparation - less stress and more confidence! :)
