Sightseeing and nature study
Spectacular natural beauty and adventure
can be explored surrounding the Park area,
especially in the Hatgal and the Hankh
area. You can learn about park resources,
explore nature trails near the lake and talk
to the local rangers about the environment.
You can reach the destination either by a
plane or a car. By plane, it takes 90 minutes
flight from Ulaanbatar, the capital city to
Murun and 68 miles drive from Murun to
the village of the Hatgal at the Park’s
southern entrance.

Our mission
To maintain its sacred landscape of water and
mountains, to preserve rare and endangered animal
and plant species and to keep and sustain the Park
for future generations.
Diverse Landscape
Khuvsgul - referred as “The Blue Pearl”- is the
largest fresh water lake in Mongolia with the area
of 1,715 square miles. The lake is located in
northwestern Mongolia near the Russian border. It
spreads 85 miles long and holds 70% of
Mongolia’s fresh water. The Lake is surrounded
by several mountain ranges. In winter the lake
surface completely freezes.
Khuvsgul Lake National Park
This pristine beauty of Khuvsgul Lake National
Park is larger than Yellowstone Park. It covers
1,180,270 hectares of land where the Central
Asian Steppe meets the Siberian Taiga. This
outstanding Park is home to a variety of plants,
trees, and wildlife.
