The Pinta
Christopher Columbus sailed from Palos, Spain, on August 3, 1492. His three
ships, the Pinta, the Nina and the Santa Maria, carried 90 men. The Pinta
carried 26 men and about one year's worth of food including biscuits, dried
fish, salt pork, peas, live pigs, hens, almonds, beans, figs and cheese. On,
October 12, 1492, the lookout on the Pinta sighted land. Columbus called
this land San Salvador.
