AUGUST ‘14 NEWSLETTER
RAFFLES ROUND UP
ZERO IN ON VICTORY
Racing for the second time at 1400m this campaign, the ONE RAFFLES STABLE-raced
FLYING ZERO recorded an impressive three-and-a-half length victory on July 6 in Singapore.
Trained by Michael Freedman and ridden
by Manoel Nunes, FLYING ZERO sat
handy in the run before being asked for
his effort, going on to defeat the lightly
weighted Geariguru with Captain McCaw
in third, taking his overall record to three
wins and six placed efforts from 21 starts in
Singapore, after having raced prior in the
stable of Chris Waller in Sydney.
Purchased from the draft of Attunga Stud at
the 2010 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, footage
of the five-year-old’s latest victory can be
seen by clicking the his image.
SACRED FALLS RETURNS WITH A SPRING IN HIS STEP
Having his first barrier trial of his current campaign a few days back, the RAFFLES RACING
owned dual Group One Doncaster Mile winner SACRED FALLS is likely to resume in the
Group One Memsie Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield on August 30, although another option
could be the Group Two Warwick Stakes on August 23.
Trainer Chris Waller stated that after the Memsie Stakes it is likely SACRED FALLS will
return to Sydney for the Group One George Main Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick on
September 20 before stepping up to 2040 metres for the Group One Cox Plate (2040m) at
Moonee Valley on October 25.
“We’ve got The Memsie pencilled in there for
Sacred Falls, if he didn’t happen to start before
that in the Warwick Stakes.
“The George Main Stakes is a Group One race
where he’s already won two Group One races.
“I’d love him to win a Group One race on a good
track because he’s not just a wet tracker.

RAFFLES ROUND UP
2013/2014 END OF RACING
SEASON STATISTICS
With 36 individual runners having raced for RAFFLES RACING during the 2013/2014 Racing
Season, there were many highlights for the season including the second Group One victory of
SACRED FALLS in the Doncaster Mile as well as
the victory of our filly ROCK DIVA in the Group
Three Sunline Vase.
Of the 36 runners, who managed to race to race
on 224 occasions, 35 first placed efforts were
achieved with another 67 second and thirds – an
outstanding effort to achieve an impressive 16%
winning strike rate and all of our trainers should
be congratulated for their efforts.
The leading “winners for the stable” was a tie
between our Singapore-based MR ARMSTRONG who secured four wins, while our New
Zealand-based SACRED STAR (pictured) also won four times, including an exciting victory
in the Group Two QTC Cup in Queensland during the Winter Carnival.
