WHEREAS it 'is d esirable to amend further the
provisions of the law relating to mining in the ' Pro·
teCto rate.
NOW THEREFORE under ,ana by viri:Uie of the
powers in me vested I do hereby declare. proClaim and
make known as follows:
(1 ) In section (1 ), clause (g : of Proclamatio11 No. 24
dated 12th December, 1919, (hereinafter termed
"the ProClamatio n''' the word "o bjection'· shall be
deleted and the followling words substituted ther·•·ror :- "finding 00 review".
(2) Sec'tioo ·2 IOf the Proclamation shall be amended by
the addition thereto of the following proviso:"provided, ho wever, that the said date may
upon applicati on be extended to a date not
later than the 30th June, 1920, if in the opinion
of the Mining Authority the erection or •~·
erection of such beacon could not have been
completed within the prescribed period."
(3) The provisions of the German Imperial Col onial
Office Ordinance ·of the 25th June, 1908, relating
to mining along the line of railway bet\\·ecn Lu·

deritzbucht and Keetma nshoop are repealed in so
far as they relate to those blocks of iand situate
along the. said railway line between .\us and
Ke,d manshoop which by virtue of the aforesaid
Ordinance ,,·ere exclusively rese n ·ed ror the wiun'nv of minerals to the Government of German
South-West .\frica.
(-l1 The said blocks of land referred to in paragraph
three hereof shall be and are he reby declared to
be open for prospecting a nd mining in accordance
with the provisio ns of the Imperial Mining Ordin ance fo r German South-West Africa of the 8th
August, 1905, as am ended by the aforesaid Pro·
clamatio n No. 24 of the 12th December, 1919.

WHEREAS b,· Act No. 49 of 1919 of the Pa.-liament
of the Union of South Africa authority was conferred
upon the O o\~ernor-General of tho said Union to gin~
effect to any Mandate issued to the Union in pursuance
of the Treaty of Peace signed at Versailles on the 28th
day of June, 191 9, with referen ce to the Protectorate
o.f South-West Africa lately under the sovereignty of
Germany and by pro clamation to app l~· to the said
Protectorate with such modi.ficatio ns as he may deem
fliOCessary, ha,·ing regard to the \.'Onditions obtaining
therein, the provisions of all or any of the followin~
laws, to wit:- the Land Settlement Act, 1912, of the
Union Parliament; the Land Settlement Act Amendmont
Act, 1917, .of the Union Parliament; the Crown Land
Disposal Ordinance 1903, of the Transvaal; and the
Cr.own Land Disposal Amendme.nt Ordinance, 1906, of
the T rans,·aal,
AND WH EREAS it has not been found expedient
by the G m·ernor-General to exe rciS(' the autho rity thereby donferred,
AND WHEREAS jt is desirable fo rthwith to apply '
the pro·visions of the Cro\\·n Land Dis posal Ordinance,
1903, a nd the Cro\\·n Land Disposal· Amendment Or·
din ance, 1906, aforesaid, ~o the Protecto rate,
NOW TH I·: REFORE, under and by \"irtue of the
po "·ers in me vested a nd in pursuance of instructions
conve,·ed to me b r the Prime Minister of the said Union
I do · hereby deClare, pro claim, and mako kn own as
follows:1. Subject to the a mendments set forth in the
Schedu le hereto th<: C rown Land Disposal Ordina nce 190:1 of the Transvaal, as amended by the
Crown Land Disposal Amendment Ordinance 1906 ·
