GATHERING AROUND THE WORD *Call to Worship Praise the Lord. Let all who draw breath praise the Lord. Happy are those whose help is from God—the one who made heaven and earth, the one who created the seas and all that is in them. Happy are those whose hope is in God—the one who keeps faith forever, the one who feeds the hungry and defends the oppressed. God will reign forever, for all generations. Praise the Lord! Let all who draw breath praise the Lord. *Hymn 459 “O Word of God Incarnate” MUNICH Prayer of Confession Such goodness is available to us, O God—the richest foods, the finest wines, to feed our souls, to nourish our spirits—and yet we go hungry. We chase after that which does not feed us; we are blind to the blessings you provide; we doubt our welcome at your table; we harden our hearts against each other. Forgive us, Lord, and lead us back to your open and bounteous table. (moment for silent reflection) For the sake of Jesus Christ, who gave his life to make a place for us at the table of grace, forgive us, cleanse us and restore us, O God. Amen. Assurance of Grace *Hymn 581 “Glory Be to the Father” GLORIA PATRI *Passing of the Peace May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. And also with you. Gathering Song “We Gather Together” (hymn 336, verse 1) KREMSER We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing; he chastens and hastens his will to make known; The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing. Sing praises to his name; he forgets not his own. The first day will be explaining how everyone can see the same bible verse from different perspectives and how this is a good thing. We will start with Genesis 1 and look at this from different types of bibles, other sources, and electronic media (subject to people voluntarily coming with available cell phones or tablets for this purpose). Each week I will let the church (and all the parents) know what bible verse we stopped at and what the subject matter is to come in the upcoming future verses to help parents decide if their children are ready to discern in a detailed kind of way various subject matter in the bible. The goal is for Lynn to post this information on the website each week to keep parents and participants informed. I am expecting that this class will go slow enough in looking at each verse that if you go on vacation and miss one or two Sundays it will not be that difficult when you return. This class should only be about 45 minutes in length. After the children's sermon during the 11:00 service, from ages 4 - 12, come join us for our special summer class just for you! We can't wait to worship with you! Psalm 30 – Refrain text and music: Hal H. Hopson, and copyright © 2008 Birnamwood/Morning Star Music Publishers
