Moses and Aaron, Joshua and Caleb, David and his Mighty Men, Daniel and his friends, Twelve ordinary disciples … and us today. A Man In Uniform “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion , kindness , humility , gentleness and patience .” (v12, NIV) A Good Man is Clothed With: Compassion - a ction that meets the n eeds of others “What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. (James 2.14-17)” Kindness - g enerous and c onsiderate “Anyone who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the Almighty.” (Job 6.14) Humility - putting the n eeds of others f irst “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.” (Romans 12.3) Gentleness - c alm and c areful “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” (Philippians 4.5) Patience - able to d elay gratification and s ee things through “Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.” (James 5.7) What does your “uniform” look like?
