Rubric for Tombstone Poster and Eulogy
The purpose of this project is to create a visual aid on which synonyms for over-used words are listed. The
class will use these visuals aids when writing. Make a tombstone for your assigned word. The “dead” words
must be visible at the top of the tombstone. Underneath the name, list 7 to 9 words which have “survived” the
deceased. (synonyms)

For the second part of this project, you will write a one paragraph eulogy for your “deceased” word. A eulogy is words of
remembrance for someone, or in this case, something, who has just died. The eulogy may be humorous or serious. You
should include your name and your relationship to the deceased word. Include basic information about the deceased
such as family, accomplishments, hobbies, or awards, etc. You may want to add a specific memory you have about the
word. This eulogy will be given at our funeral for all the deceased words, so practice reading it out loud.
