Directions: For EACH of the four cartoons on the following slides, answer the below
questions. See the example below for an idea of how to complete this assignment.
1. Describe what is happening in the cartoon (ie, a lady is talking to her husband, who is paying
more attention to the ballgame than her, etc)
2. Tell which situation or policy or group of people, etc is being satirized
3. What point is the cartoonist trying to make?

The example below gives you an idea how to answer the questions for each cartoon.
1. What is happening? A man and wife are at a
funeral and are looking in the casket. The wife
is commenting on how natural the deceased
looks. The dead woman is holding a cell phone
to her ear.
2. Situation being satirized - The cartoon is
satirizing how much people use cell phones.
3. Cartoonist’s point - The cartoonist is making
fun of how much many of us rely on
technology, especially our cell phones.
