Literacy
Learning Targets:
“I can summarize the events in the novel, Old Yeller.” “I can read a story and tell the theme of
the story.”
Students will read Old Yeller and summarize the events the family has endured. Students will read
stories and tell the lesson the author is trying to teach.
Math
Learning Targets:
“I can place fractions on a number line.” “I can solve algebraic expressions.”
Students will show where fractions are placed on a number line. Students will solve for expressions to
find missing answers.
Writing
Learning Targets:
“I can write a biography about a famous Mexican American.” “I can edit my work for
conventions.”
Students will use facts they learned about a famous Mexican American and write an informational
story about it. Students will edit the story for conventions: capital letters and end punctuation like
periods, question marks, and exclamation points.

Social Studies: “I can tell about a famous Mexican American.” Students will research a Famous
Mexican American and write facts about the person in a short informational paper.
Science: “I can tell what a variable is.” “I can experiment with variables to see if changes are a
benefit or detriment.” Students will explain what a variable is. Students will do an experiment and
then change the variable in a subsequent experiment. Then students will explain if the changing of
the variable was a success or failure.
*Please insure that the student comes prepared with pencils and headphones/earphones.*
*Students need to be at school by 8:00 a.m.
*Mon. - Thu: School dismissal is 3:10 p.m.**Normal Friday: School dismissal is 12:06pm*
