While it is an apt, poetic description of love, it also is the perfect modifier of God's Word. If there is a word to describe the current culture, it is "change." Our world is enamored with it, constantly changing its mind, its values, its standards of right and wrong, its worldview, and its priorities. Swept up in all of this are societal attitudes about so many things. Sunday Evening Worship The ethics of honesty, hard work, and service Our list could be much longer, but these representative items have all fallen victim to the world's push for what it sees as greater freedom, satisfaction, and happiness. Those who rely on the Bible as their infallible guide already know how the story turns out for those who make themselves the standard. "I know, O Lord, that a man's way is not in himself, nor is it in a man to direct his What was once right is now wrong. What was steps" (Jer. 10:23). More solemnly, Solomon says, wrong is now right. And while not every instance "There is a way which seems right to a man, but of this is wrong, so many of them are the prodits end is the way of death" (Prov. 16:25). In Paul's uct of mankind pushing the envelope of previous day, suppressing, speculative, sensual, and subnorms and standards of decency. Let me cite verting souls rejected God in deference to selfsome specific examples: guidance with destructive results (Rom. 1:18ff). Thus, it will always be when man builds upon the The definition of marriage foundation of himself. The definition of gender What happens with us, individually and collec Sexual mores tively, when we build upon the rock of Scripture is The sanctity and humanity of the unborn survival in the severest tests (Mat. 7:24-25). When The view of the inspiration and authority of we see Scripture as something to change us Scripture rather than something subject to our changes, we Male and female leadership roles have a sure standard by which to chart our lives. The move from monotheism to polytheism Antecedent societies have experienced the trauma of spiritual self-determination (cf. Prov. (one God to many Gods) The existence of God and the deity of Jesus 14:34). In a world enamored with unrighteous change, may we determine to fix our gaze on the Christ ever-fixed mark of Scripture! Jennifer MISSIONARY UPDATE: VELAPHI MELANGANI YOUTH GROUP NEWS Food Relief truck so that it could be easy to pull it out. We managed to distribute food to 13 families at Redwood, 28 families at Maraposa and 30 at Alicedale. The recipients were very grateful indeed. This is the time they need this food most as they are cultivating their fields. Our truck broke down because the roads in the rural areas have been damaged by the heavy rains. Many rivers and tributaries have burst their banks. At Maraposa, our truck got stuck in the mud and was pulled out by a yoke of four oxen. Some villagers came and assisted us by pushing the truck while others put stones under the Family News March 20 April 8 April 17 May 15 June 5 June 12 June 19 June 25-July 21 July 10 July 17 July 21-2 We are requesting for your prayers for our daughter Lithuke who is suffering from a kidney desease In His service, Velaphi Paris C of C Youth Rally Makin Music @ FHU Fairfax C of C Youth Rally Lawrenceburg CofC Rally Holly Hill CofC Rally Point Pleasant CofC Rally Mercer CofC Rally Rolling Hills Bible Camps Shelbyville CofC Rally North Lexington CofC Rally Young Adult Weekend-RH “DOING LIFE TOGETHER” Point Pleasant Church of Christ 3259 Point Pleasant Road Hebron, KY 41048 What One Must Do To Be Saved HEAR THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST John 20:30; Rom 10:17 TO: BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD Rom 10:16; Acts 18:8; Heb 11:6 REPENT OF SINS Luke 13:3; 24:47; Acts 3:19; 17:30 CONFESS FAITH IN CHRIST AS GOD’S SON Matt 10:32; Acts 8:37; Rom 10:10 BE BAPTIZED (IMMERSED) IN WATER Matt 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; 10:47-48; 22:16; Rom 6:1-6; Gal 3:27; Col 2:12; I Peter 3:21 We’re On the Web!
