To Create a New Document: Click the New Button on the Standard Toolbar.
To Open a Document: Click the Open Button on the Standard Toolbar, or select
File>Open from the menu, or press <ctrl> + <O>.
To Save a Document: Click the Save button on the Standard toolbar, or select File>Save
from the menu, or press <ctrl> + <S>.
To Save a Document with a Different Name or to a Different File: Select File>Save As>
from the menu and enter a different name for the document.
To Preview a Document: Click the Page Preview button on the Standard Toolbar or
select File>Page Preview from the menu.
To Print a Document: Click the Print button on the Standard Toolbar, or select
File>Print. Then check to make sure that you are sending the information to the correct
printer. Select the Number of Copies you want to Print. Then press the “Print” box.
For Advanced Print Options: Select File>Print from the menu. Click on the tabs across
the top to change print options.
To Correct a Spelling Error: Right-click the error to bring up a suggestion menu.
To View or Hide a Toolbar: Selct View>Toolbars from the menu, select the toolbar you
want to view or hide.
To Get Help: Press Help from the Menubar. Type your question or Key Words that you
are needing help with, and click Display.
To Cut or Copy: Select the text and click the Cut button or Copy button on the Standard
toolbar, or press <ctrl> + <X> (cut) or <ctrl> + <C> (copy).
To Paste: Move the insertion point where you want to paste the text and click the Paste
button on the Standard toolbar, or press <ctrl> + <V>.
To Move Text using Drag and Drop: Select the text you want to move, drag the text to
the destination, and release the mouse button.
To Undo: Click the Undo button on the Standard toolbar or press <ctrl> + <Z>. You can
use this feature several times to continue to Undo the previous move on the screen.
To Redo: Click the Redo button on the Standard toolbar to repost what you just Undid.
To Use the Thesaurus: Right-click the word you want to look up, select Synonyms from
the shortcut menu, then select Thesaurus from the shortcut menu. Select a synonym
from the list.
To Find Text: Select <ctrl> + <F>.
To Find and Replace Text: Select the Find & Replace button and enter the required
information, or <ctrl> + <H>

To Format Text: Change the style of text by clicking the Bold button, Italics
button, or Underline button on the Formatting toolbar.
Change the font type by selecting a font from the Font Name on the Formatting
toolbar.
Change the font size by selecting the pt. size from the Font Size list.
To Change Paragraph Alignment: Select the paragraphs(s) and click the
appropriate alignment button (Left, Center, Right, or Justify) on the Formatting
toolbar.
To Indent a Paragraph: Click the Increase Indent button on the Formatting
toolbar or click and drag the Left Indent marker on the ruler.
To Decrease an Indent: Click the Decrease Indent button on the Formatting
toolbar.
To Add a Tab Stop: Click on the ruler where you want to add the tab.
To Change Paragraph Line Spacing: Select Format>Paragraph from the menu
and select the spacing options desired.
To Create a Bulleted or Numbered List: Select the paragraph(s) you want
bulleted and click the Bullets button, or the Numbering button on the
Formatting toolbar. This feature will continue until you click the button again to
turn it off.
To Change a Document’s Margins: Select Format>Page from the menu click the
Page tab and adjust the margins.
To Change a Page’s Orientation: Select Format>Page> from the menu click the
Page tab and adjust the margins.
To Add or View a Document Header or Footer: Select Format>Page from the
menu click the Header or Footer tab and adjust.
To Insert a Manual Page Break: Place the insertion point where you want to
insert the page break and click on Insert>Manual Break> from the menu click on
Page Break and click on OK.

To Create a Table: Click the Insert Table button on the Standard toolbar. Then select
the number of rows and columns for your table. You can choose to AutoFormat your
table by selecting that box and making your selection. Once you have your choices
made, click OK.
<Tab> goes to the next cell: <Shift> + <Tab> foes to the previous cell.
To Adjust Column Width: Drag the right border of the column.
To Delete a Column or Row: Put cursor on the column or row that you wish to delete.
Go to the Table toolbar and click on the icon to delete either the column or the row.
To Insert a Column or Row: Go to the Table toolbar and click on the icon to add row or
add column.
To Change Line Style: Click the Line Style button on the Table toolbar. Then select the
type of lines you want to use.
To Change the Color of the Border: Click the Line Color button on the Table toolbar.
Then select the color that you want the border to be.
To Change the Style of Border: Click the Borders button on the Table toolbar. Select
the style of border you want to use.
To change the Background Color: Click the Background Color button on the Table
toolbar. Then select the color you want the background to be.
To Split Cells within the Table: Click the Split Cell button on the Table toolbar. Then
decide how many cells you want to split them into and whether you want to do this
horizontally or vertically.
Merge Cells: Highlight the cells that you wish to merge. Then click the Merge Cells
button on the Table toolbar.
Sum: If you have several columns that you want to add up in a particular cell, place your
cursor in the cell that you want to show the total, and then click on the Sum button on
the Table toolbar.

From File
To View the Drawing Toolbar: Click the Drawing button on the Standard toolbar or
select View>Toolbars>Drawing from the menu.
To Insert Word Art: Click the Fontwork Gallery button on the Drawing toolbar. Choose
which style you want to use.
To Insert a Picture: Click the From File button on the Drawing toolbar. Choose where
to pull the picture from and insert it into your document.
To Draw an Object: Click the object you want to draw on the Drawing toolbar and draw
your shape by clicking on the document with the + pointer and dragging until the shape
reaches the desired size.
To Move an Object: Click and drag the object using the mouse.
To Resize an Object: Click the object to select it and drag the object’s sizing handles
until the shape reaches the desired size.
