North Island Lodge Fishing Report
Summer solstice ..
June 19, 2012
The summer solstice occurs when the Earth’s maximum axial tilt is closest to the sun marking the longest
day of the year. So what does this have to do with fishing Langara Island? … I really have no idea but more
and more tyee reports have begun to hit the fish board and our rookie guides are beginning to showcase
their fishing talents.
With a short window to fish on Monday morning Drew Manson came back to the dock with his guests and
a 36lb chinook in the box. With veteran NIL guide Brent Gallacher leading by example, rarely will a day go
by without one monster Chinook to report.
With the wicked winds from the SE subsiding and opening up multiple fishing options on Langara to catch
that trophy fish. Rather than feeding the fish we are spending more time catching them. The sun broke
through yesterday and NIL guide crew with their guests had a blast on the water.
Jared Gagen hailing from the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island has spend multiple seasons guiding out
of Port Renfrew. Jared has now joined the elite class of Langara Island fisherman. Welcome to the team JRod.

Brent provided us with this great shots from his previous trip. While fishing the west side of Langara has
been a challenge this last week .. Brent has found some windows of opportunity and boated another Tyee
with his guests.
Pictured below is Brent dwarfing this tyee with his terodactyl like wingspan. His guests are on top of the
world!
