Perhaps you have a sister, brother, cousin or friend that was baptized but never made their First Eucharist or Confirmation in the Catholic Church. If you do, why not suggest the RCIA program. This journey of faith may be just what they are searching for. The RCIA team is now welcoming new people into the Inquiry Phase of discernment. If you have any questions or would like to inquire, please call Barbara Long at 856-810-0881. Christ Our Light will host a complimentary pancake breakfast after all morning masses on January 29. You are invited to enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausage and more prepared by the KOCA chefs (Knights of Celestine Association) in the school cafeteria. Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) Are your children participating in CLOW during the 9:00a.m. or 11:00a.m. Sunday Mass? If so you understand the format. For others who have not yet participated in CLOW here’s what happens: children are escorted by adult facilitators from the main body of the church to the Ministry Center where two groups are formed; those who have already celebrated their First Communion and those who have not but are 5 years of age or older. The children hear the day’s readings in language appropriate to their age and participate in an interactive homily. They return to their families at the Offertory. NOTE: CLOW is not babysitting. Children younger than 5 should remain with their parents /guardians during the Liturgy of the Word (Readings & Homily). Christ Our Book Group The Christ Our Light Book Group will meet in the new Parish Center, Room C at 7:30 on Thursday, January 26 to discuss Ronald Rolheiser's book: 'The Holy Longing - The Search for a Christian Spirituality'. If you have any questions, please contact Tom deWolf [email protected] or 856-7950416. 2 - 573 Stewardship Parish News Stewardship - The Many Ways of Giving Catholicism: The Pivotal Players 2016 Bishop's Annual Appeal-We Made Our Goal! Thanks to all who supported the 2016 House of Charity Bishop's Annual Appeal. Through your generosity we were able to exceed our parish goal of $219,156.73. More importantly, the spiritual and physical needs of many of our neighbors are being served. Since we reached our goal, the parish will receive a rebate from the House of Charity later this year. Our rebate will be adjusted downward to fulfill any outstanding pledges not paid by March 31. If you still have a balance on your pledge, please try to complete your payments as soon as you are able. May God bless you abundantly for your goodness. Stewardship of Treasure Jan. 14/15, 2016 Goal $25,154 Actual $25,380 Fiscal Year-to-Date Goal $729,466 Actual $688,374 The Many Ways of Giving An excellent way for you to support the mission of Christ Our Light Parish is to leave us a bequest in you will. One significant benefit of making a gift by bequest is that it allows you to continue to use the property you will leave to the parish during your lifetime. Another benefit is that you are able to leave a lasting legacy. There are many ways to make a bequest. Please contact the parish office for further information. 2016 Tax Statements If you would like a copy of your 2016 tax-deductible contributions, starting on Tuesday, January 17th, please contact Mary Del Rossi at [email protected] or 856-667-2440 x321. We can email you the document or mail you a hard copy. They are not sent out automatically. We’re continuing with our faith formation series called Catholicism: The Pivotal Players. This program is a multi-part film series that illumines a handful of saints, artists, mystics, and scholars who not only shaped the life of the Church but changed the course of civilization. We meet at the Parish Center in Room C. Our Catholic faith calls us to recognize the inherent dignity of all people. Catholic Social Teaching calls us to live justice and mercy by ensuring that all are taken care of and provided with a just wage, proper education, health care etc. More than anything, this merits some reflection. Last weekend we spent 16 hours for our winter retreat with our energetic and faith filled young people; where we conscientiously examined prayer and reflection in our lives and seek to live mercy as the Good Samaritan reading reminds. We are challenged to spend time in reflection, service, justice and peace so that all people will live in sanctity. 3 - 573 4 - 573 Parish News Family Movie Night Sermon on the Mount Disney Pixar’s “UP” Saturday, February 4 at 6:00 PM in the RCS Auditorium Admission is free but ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED! “Up” is the story of Carl Fredricksen, a retired balloon salesman, who is part rascal, part dreamer, and is ready for his last chance at high-flying excitement.
