March 2013
Welcome to March Brethren!!
From Gobbler’s Knob, Punxsutawney Phil predicts spring is right around the corner!!!
Agree with the fury rodent or not, Spring begins with the vernal equinox at 0702 on
March 20!! I for one am looking forward to warmer weather and the many BBQ’s put on
by our great Stewards!!
Beginning this month, The WONDERFUL Ladies
and Gents of Hope Chapter #73 of The OES will
be providing dinner at our stated. A $10 fee for
dinner is required as we will be paying the ladies
at the end of each evening. This is a fundraiser
for them and a great way to show your support!!
Please consider joining us, you wont regret it!!
We had a Great February with a ton of events, multiple fraternal visits, Masonic Week
over in Herndon, a Stated that brought out a bunch of red coats, black coats, Hats with
feathers, and all in part to demonstrate a few of the many bodies in the York Rite.
Brother Sandy and RE Don McAndrews spread a whole lot of information on the York
Rite and we even had a couple Henry Boyz put in petition's to the Royal Arch!! We also
provided space for a very special event with the arrival of Illustrious Hodapp who gave
us a fantastic talk on Freemasonry. Sponsored by The Patriot Lodge #1957, it was a
well attended event with people coming from as far away as Tennessee.
For the newer Brethren, please keep your ears open for the many degrees we are
doing at Henry via The Patriot Lodge #1957. They are open to all of equal or greater
status and if you are interested, let me know, we will find you a part!! Remember, we
are all Masons of the Fantastic Fourth District who should support and assist each other however we can. March will be another busy one with a very special event coming up
at our Stated, Illustrious Marty Heaster and Worshipful Chris Kater from Springfield
Lodge #217 will be coming to Henry to put on the Cleopatra’s Needle program, a fantastic program with some very interesting Masonic history!! We will have dinner, open
Lodge at 1930, call off to refreshment so everyone can come in and see the program.
After the program, call back on again and conduct our business. Good time WILL be
had by all!!
Come out, support YOUR Lodge, see you soon!! S & F Pete

The Twenty Four Inch Gauge and Common Gavel of the Entered Apprentice. The Plumb,

especially the Trowel of the Master Mason and many others. In our Masonic Funeral Service, in
addition to an explanation of the apron and glove we also define the Evergreen or sprig of Acacia. But in each we only touch the surface.

Appendant Body/Friend of the Month!!!
Hope Chapter #73 Order of The
Eastern Star
What It Is: The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in
the world to which both women and men may belong. Worldwide, there are over
500,000 members under the General Grand Chapter
Eastern Star is a social order comprised of persons with spiritual values, but it is
not a religion. Its appeal rests in the true beauty of the refreshing and characterbuilding lessons that are so sincerely portrayed in its ritualistic work. A deep fraternal bond exists between its members. It is the wholesome relationship of sisterly and brotherly love brought about through high principles exemplified in our lives
which makes us near and dear to each other.
While this is an Order composed of people of deep spiritual convictions, it is open
to all faiths, except no faith. The personal welfare of our members is vital to all of
those in the Eastern Star, and it is considered a privilege to help another member
whenever we can.
Purposes: The stated purposes of the organization are: Charitable, Educational,
Fraternal and Scientific; but there is much more to it than that. Dr. Rob Morris, the
Poet Laureate of Masonry, founded the Order using the beautiful and inspiring Biblical examples of heroic conduct and moral values. These portray the noble principles which should adorn the personal lives of Eastern Star members. Eastern Star
strives to take good people and through uplifting and elevating associations of
love and service, and through precept and example build an Order which is truly
dedicated to charity, truth and loving kindness.
