I wish to express my grave concerns over the proposed development of a CCGT
at Toomes, COLouth. I have being living here all my life and feel that this
station will infringe on my lifestyle both visually and due to the excess noise
levels that will be forced upon me.

My home is only 3 meters in total away from the LP1143 and would be passed
by huge amounts of traffic each day as well as it being upgraded. My home is
not insulated and any noise increase would be severely felt by me in my home.
Traffic on the road at present is mainly confined to before 8.30am and from
4.30pm to 6 pm Monday - Friday with very little traffic on Saturday and
Sunday. With the station working from 8am to 8pm Mon - Friday and 8am to
4pm Saturday this will have to prolong and increase noise and vibration levels
around my home and my scbn’s home.
The screening by Quinn group is insufficient to hide this from my home. I park
my car on the roadside and fear that it will be damaged by passing trucks and
digging equipment. I have rio other means of transport available to me as no
public buses are within my easy reach. I am 67 years old and can not walk to the
nearest bus stop which is appox 1.5 miles away along the busy DundalkCarrickmacross road.
I also have a shallow well which is only appox 20metares deep. No evidence of
this well appears on any Quinn group documents and I have no idea how this
will effect my drinking water. The Killanny - Reaghstown GWS does not pass
my home so I have no other drinking water available to me.
I also fear for what emissions will come out of the stack when it is being run on
diesel. Living so close to this station and not knowing how this will affect me,
my children and grandchildren is very upsetting. No one has told me how this
will affect them. I can’t see any information on Quinn groups document? about
this.

I would also like to ask the question that if a major emergency happens then
why is there only one way in and out from the site. If there is a large fire and the
wind is blowing towards the access road then how will fire trucks get in as they
have to work up wind from the fire. As well as this would there be enough water
fro them to fight such a fire as the water supply on site would be behind the
wind. Would they be forced to take it from the Group Water Scheme and how
would that effect my neighbours water supply.
A night the area is very dark and still. On a report by Quinn Group it is said to
be a very quite area. Some inights you can hear the local substation which is
appox % mile away. This slation is only % a mile away so will the noise levels
be increased during the running of it. Also would the light needed to light the
area up affect the surrounding areas? I feel it will.
I would like to see more consideration for local people who could be left with
this. A lot more screening should be put in place as well as footpaths from the
upgraded LP1143 to the Local school located about % mile away. As well as
this I would like to have much more mature treeslstone wall to hide my and my
son's home from the huge volume of traffic and the very large buildings .

I feel that this station is the wrong type of station in the wrong place but fear that
political influence and the vast sums of money in the current economic
environment will ensure the completion of this station. When you see the effort
put in by my son and the local community at the oral hearing and the inspector
agreeing with them, it begg.ars belief that it can be overruled by people who
have never visited the area. I heard on the radio that the government wants to
increase renewable energy and lower carbon footprint of Ireland yet An Bord
Pleanala allow this to go ahead.
