• The Freedom Movement is a group that is trying to make
people in our community aware of the slavery that exists in the
USA today. Human trafficking is modern day slavery and it is
the fastest growing criminal industry in the world. We will be
talking about what we can do this year to make a difference!

• Attention Minority Scholars…there will be a very
important meeting today during STEP in Ms. Young’s
room. We will meet at 11:15. Again minority scholars
members will meet in Ms. Young’s room during STEP at
11:15 in Ms. Young’s room.
• “Attention Watkins Mill High Students and Staff,
• The Watkins Mill Talent Show, sponsored by Rec Zone and Kelly
Davis, will be held today from 7:00pm to 9:30pm
• Tickets are still being sold at lunch for $5. Step by the Gym and
tonight at the door for $8
• Children 10 and under get in free

•It’s that time of year again! The SADD
organization will be seeking nominations for
Mr. Watkins Mill all week during STEP.
Nominations are 10 cents each, and you can
nominate as many times as you like. Be sure
your favorite senior guy gets recognized!
• Smart phones can make you do stupid things, especially
when walking or driving. Put your phone down and keep
your head up. Walkers- Make eye contact to be sure
drivers see you before you cross the street. Drivers- You
can’t fix a pedestrian at a body shop. Always stop for
people in crosswalks. SADD will have a pledge banner in
the mixing bowl today at STEP. Come by, sign the banner,
and help create a safer community.

students will not be able to use their
student identification to ride the Ride On
and Metro buses free; Students MUST
have a Youth SmarTrip Card!
• Attention all students wishing to take the Maryland Driver’s Learner
Permit.
• You have the opportunity to take your written Maryland Driver’s
Learners test here at Watkins Mill High School tomorrow Saturday, Dec.
13th. If you are interested, please stop by the main office and pick up an
application form. The deadline form deadline was yesterday, Thursday,
Dec. 11th. This test is free.
• If you previously took the test and did not score high enough, you can
take it again on Saturday. Stop by the main office to put your name on
the list. If you have any question please go to main office.
•To all students don’t forget, Free flu vaccines
are available in the health and wellness
center for students. Pick up a consent form
from the health room, have your parent sign
it and return it to the health room.!!
• Want to play a varsity sport but never tried? Love
sports but not the running part? Bocce is the sport
for you! Please join us in Gym 2 today during STEP
to see what it's all about! Questions--see Ms. Stief
in B203 or Mr. Hilburger in D201. We look forward
to seeing you there!"
• Our Last but not least announcement is to
Congratulation all the seniors whom participated in the
2nd annual on the spot admission event. There were five
colleges and over 80 students. Thank you very much to
our team in the counseling office for coordinating an
awesome “On the Spot” admissions event for the
seniors.
• This was our largest On the Spot event at
WMHS ever, in terms of the numbers of
schools participating and numbers of kids
taking advantage. Thank you also to those
teachers and staff who wrote
recommendations (often at the last minute)
for students. Way to go wolverines
