to the fatherless. Attached is an opportunity.
Over 3,700 Arkansas kids are in foster care. COMPACT® Hillcrest Children’s Home is
building a better family future for these students!
Instead of fear, abuse, neglect, or hopelessness, COMPACT® provides foster children and
youth a hope-filled alternative through Spirit-empowered love.
The attached Speed The Light opportunity will change the destiny for some underdog
students in our care! You are invited to help.

COMPACT® RUN FOR THE FAMILY 5K
SPEED THE LIGHT FUNDRAISER
Youth groups in Arkansas are invited to participate on location at
Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, AR or virtually in their own
community in a 5k (5 kilometers equals 3.16 miles) run or walk to
benefit ministry for foster children and youth.
Arkansas Speed The Light has approved two project vehicles for the COMPACT® Family Services
ministry, Hillcrest Children’s Home, that need to be funded in 2014. COMPACT® is the national child
welfare ministry agency of the Assemblies of God. Its ministry includes:

COMPACT® Highlands Maternity Home
COMPACT® Transitional Living Center
COMPACT® Adoptions
COMPACT® Foster Care
Participation is as easy as “Ready, Set, Go.”

• Review the fun run information on the website.
• Discover the downloadable resources, including the Participant Sponsor Sheet resource to help
raise Speed The Light money for approved COMPACT® ministry STL project vehicles.
• Decide where you would like to participate; in Hot Springs or locally in a safe location near you.
• Consider and contact who you would like to invite to join you.

• Register for the 5k. Participant registration for the COMPACT® Run For The Family 5k is $25 per
person. You can register in two ways, online or by mail. To register by mail, fill out the enclosed
registration form and return to COMPACT® or your youth leader. To register online, go to
compact5k.com. Registration proceeds benefit the ministry of COMPACT®.
• Set a STL fundraising goal and recruit sponsors for your participation using the Participant Sponsor
Sheet. Get sponsors for every kilometer you walk or run. (Example - $2 per kilometer equals a $10
sponsorship if the participant completes the 5k. If a participant obtains ten such sponsors, the total
funds raised by the participant would equal $100 for STL.)
Go - Participate, Collect Support & Give
• Complete the 5k walk or run.
• Collect support money from your 5k sponsors.
• Give the money to your pastor or youth leader to give to Speed The Light for COMPACT® ministry
vehicles that win, build and send foster children and youth.

Inaugural COMPACT® Family Services 2014 5K
Saturday, September 27
Our inaugural Run-For-The-Family 5k is a fun and fit activity for
kindergartners through adults. Students have a goal to run, walk or
mosey the complete 5k. Drinks will be provided, and each student
will receive an event t-shirt upon completion.
Arkansas Speed The Light has approved two project vehicles for
COMPACT® Family Services that need funding in 2014. The student
sponsorships raised during the 5k will go towards the purchase of the
vehicles.
COMPACT® is redeeming family and community for foster youth.

Rules
1. Students must register for the event. The participant registration for the COMPACT® Run
For The Family is $25 per person. You can register individually or as a group.
Registration proceeds benefit the ministry of COMPACT®.
2. Students may start collecting pledges as soon as they receive the pledge sheets.
3. Pledges may be made by anyone. However, participants may not ask for pledges
from any of the staff members of COMPACT® Family Services.
5. Pledge sheets and money need to be turned to your district office by Thursday,
October 30, please designate funds to: Speed The Light COMPACT® Family Services
Vehicle Project.
6. On 5k day, each participant will journey the 5k track at the beautiful Garvan
Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, AR. The gardens provide a serene location away
from traffic for participants. Students can also participate locally in a safe place near
you.

RULES
7. Participants may choose to run, walk or mosey the 5k distance. Participants are
encouraged to hydrate properly before the 5k and use sunscreen if it’s sunny or bring
rain gear if it’s rainy. Upon completion of the 5k, participants will receive an event tshirt verifying completion of the 5k.
COMPACT® Run For The Family
4. Each sponsor making a pledge should write their own name, pledge per kilometer,
and total pledge. Students may collect the pledge in advance but must keep pledges
until all are collected.
