Dear Parkinson’s Support Group Leader,
On behalf of our local chapter of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, we are excited to share with you
the date of our 7th annual fundraiser, Kickin’ Parkinson’s, which will be held Thursday, September
22, 2016 at the Stone Creek Club and Spa in Covington, LA. We hope that you and your members
will be able to join us for this fabulous evening featuring The Molly Ringwalds!, marvelous food,
fine wines, open bar, an auction and many special guests, including Debbie Brooks, cofounder of
the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Last year our chapter raised over $300,000 for research for a cure and medical therapies for
patients with Parkinson’s disease. Out of 1600 Team Fox organizations, our local chapter is one of
the top 3 fundraising chapters in the country for Team Fox. Over the last six years we have raised
over $840,000 for Team Fox!
Our chapter continues to be committed, not only to fundraising for Team Fox, but also to support
people in our communities that are caregivers of Parkinson’s patients or are students intending to
work to improve the lives of those living with Parkinson’s Disease. The Annual Caregiver’s Award
and the Annual Wilbur Reisig Scholarship recipients will receive their awards at the Kickin’
Parkinson’s event.
Information and nomination forms for the Annual Caregiver’s Award are enclosed. The Wilbur
Reisig Scholarship was awarded earlier this year.
We would also like to encourage you and your members to attend a Round Table Discussion being
led by scientists and leaders of the Michael J. Fox Foundation on Friday, September 23rd from
8:00AM-10:00AM at The Columbia House in Covington, LA.
Finally, we are donating 4 tickets to the 2016 Kickin’ Parkinson’s event to each support group in
the Greater New Orleans area and encourage you to have a drawing at your next meeting. Please
let us know who the winners are (and their contact information) so we may hold the tickets for
them at the front desk.

ANNUAL CAREGIVER AWARD
On behalf of Kickin’ Parkinson’s, a Team Fox event supporting the Michael J. Fox
Foundation, we are pleased to announce we are accepting nominations for the
Annual Caregiver Award that consists of a $250 cash award, a plaque, and a Spa
Service at Stone Creek Club and Spa in Covington, LA. The recipient will be presented
with the award on September 22nd, 2016 at the Kickin’ Parkinson’s event.
The award aims to recognize the individuals who serve as supportive
advocates for Parkinson’s disease family members or patients in the Greater New
Orleans area.
A Caregiver Award Application Form is enclosed. We encourage your group to
nominate a deserving caregiver of a Parkinson’s disease patient for this award. All
