KEYCREATOR 3D Direct Modeling Software KeyCreator Lesson KC2109 Creating a Cast Bearing Block Let’s create the cast bearing block illustrated to the right. We’ll start with a new file in View 1. Use the construction color YELLOW. Click on the CREATE ROUNDED RECTANGLE WIDTH HEIGHT Icon. Type 0.25 for the Radius. Click on the MidCtr Anchoring Option. Type 2.75 for dXC and 1.625 for dYC. Click on the KEYIN Option. Hit the ENTER Key three times to center the rectangle on the origin of the file. Click on the SET ATTRIBUTE Icon. Select a new construction color. I’m going to use RED Click on the BACKUP Button. Use 0.25 for the Radius. Type 1.5 for dXC and 0.875 for dYC. Hit the ENTER Key twice and type 1 for ZC. Hit the ENTER Key. Switch to the Isometric View (View 7.) and Autoscale the display. Type 5 for the Draft Angle and click on the Outward Option. Then, click on the OK Button. Click on the ALL DSP Option and then on the BY TYPE Option. The MASKING BY TYPE Dialog Box appears. Click on the BROWN Option and then on the OK Button. Click on the downward-facing Vector. Click on the BACKUP Button. Type 0.35 for the Length, use the same draft, and click on the OK Button. This time, mask on the YELLOW Option. We’ll extrude this profile downward also. Click on the Two Positions Option. Type 0.625 for the Radius and click on the OK Button. Using the CtrMid Option, click on the top, left edge of the brown solid and then the top, right edge. Your construction should now look like this: Now, click on the EXTRUDE OUTWARD FACE OF A SOLID Icon. A Dialog Box appears. Type 0.25 for the Distance and click on the OK Button. Position the cursor over the right circular face of the cylinder and click on it when it highlights. Your construction should now look like this: Now that we have the three parts of our elephant, let’s join them into one body! Click on the BOOLEAN UNION Icon. Click on the base piece and then each of the other solids. Then, click on the ACCEPT Button. Next, click on the DRILL Icon. A Dialog Box appears. Use the Through Hole Option. Type 0.75 for the Diameter and click on the OK Button. Click on the circular face at the top, right side of the part. Then, using the CtrMid Option, click on the circular edge of this face. Type 0.25 for the Diameter and click on the OK Button. Now, click on the top face of the base portion of the part. Then, using the CtrMid Option, click on the fillet at each corner. You will now have a hole centered at each corner radius. Finally, click on the CONSTANT RADIUS BLEND Icon. A Dialog Box appears. Type 0.125 for the Radius and click on the OK Button. Click on an outside edge at the top of the base portion. Next, click on an edge at the intersection of the base portion and the center support column. Then, click on an edge at the intersection of the cylinder and the center support column. Click on the ACCEPT Button. Click on the BACKUP Button. The Dialog Box reappears. Type 0.05 for the Radius and click on the OK Button. Click on the circular edge at the right end of the cylinder and then on the circular edge at the left end of the cylinder.
