Step 1: Open the sectioncutpthplots.mvw session file in HyperView Step 2: Create the Section Cut 1. Click to open the Measure panel. 2. Click Add to add a new measure group. 3. Change Distance Between to Node Path. 4. Select the start and end nodes as shown below. 5. Click Value to activate the option and display the values. The values are displayed for the nodes along the section cut. 6. Click Value to deactivate the option. 7. Click Create Curves to create a curve. 8. Click Live Link to activate the option. 9. Click OK to create the curve. The curve appears in a new window. 10. Click ID to turn off the ID display. 11. Click to move through the time steps. Notice how the curve updates as you move through them. Since Live Link was activated the curve will automatically update. 12. Click to move to the last time step. 13. Click the HyperGraph window to activate it. 14. Click to enter the Coordinates panel. 15. Select a few points on the curve and notice how the panel updates. As you select points on the graph, the appropriate point is highlighted in the table. 16. Click 17. Click to go to the next page. to go the Section Cut panel. 18. Select a point on the van as shown below. 19. Click Apply to add the section cut. 20. Click Cross Section under Display options. 21. Use the Width slider to adjust the width of the section. 22. Click to open the Measure panel. 23. Click Add to add a measure group. 24. Select the two nodes on the section cut to measure between them. The distance appears between the points. 25. Click Add to add a new measure group. 26. Change Distance Between to Position. 27. Select several nodes on the section cut. The position of the nodes appears on the section cut. 28. Click Create Curves to open the Create Curves dialog. 29. Click Live Link to deactivate the option. 30. Click Single Curve to activate the option. 31. Click the X-Axis drop down menu. 32. Click Entity-Z from the menu. 33. Click OK to complete the curve creation. The curve appears in a HyperGraph window. 34. Click 35. Click to go the next page. to open the Section Cut panel. 36. Click the switch under Define plane. 37. Click Z Axis from the list of options. 38. Select a point on the model. 39. Click Apply to apply the changes to the model. 40. Click Clipping plane under Display options. 41. Click and drag the graphic manipulator to adjust the display of the clipping plane. 42. Click to open the Measure panel. 43. Click Add to add a measure group. 44. Change Distance Between to Node Path. 45. Select the start and end points as shown below. 46. Click Create Curves to open the Create Curves dialog. 47. Click OK to accept the defaults and create the curve. 48. Click and drag the graphic manipulator to change the location of the section cut. 49. Click Add to add a new measure group. 50. Select the start and end points as selected in the prior steps. 51. Click Create Curves to open the Create Curves dialog. 52. Click the Place on menu to open it. 53. Click Existing Plot form the list of options. 54. Click Page 3 > Window 2 for the location of the plot. 55. Click OK to create the curve. The new curve has been added to the existing plot for the new cross section.
