IRC Tourism ranks the event in the top 4
events in the county.
Here is a sample of some of the projects that
we do each year:
Our Environment:
On our annual Youth Guidance Fishing trip Sunrise Rotary Vero Beach partnered with ELC to help local
underprivileged children develop an appreciation for our lagoon and its ecosystem.
RISSA (Rotary Initiative for Submerged Sea Grass Awareness) coordinates the assembly and placement
in the lagoon thousands of "oyster mats" that help clean and protect our environment.
Our Youth:
We collect food for Hope For Families Center each month.
Club members volunteer at the Citrus Elementary "Adopt a School" program by reading, greeting, and
mentoring students.
We award 4 laptop computers to contest winners of the Accelerated Reading Program at the Middle
School level.
We award numerous scholarships annually to deserving high school students who exhibit excellence in Music, Interact
Club involvement, Vocational, and "Service Above Self" involvement in our community.
Local high school students are sponsored each summer and school year for Rotary Youth Exchange programs.
Our "Growing Healthy Kids" project educates kids about the importance of good nutrition and maintaining a healthy body and mind.
Our Seniors:
We help St. Francis Manor of Vero Beach with Mother’s Day flowers & occasionally with needs such as a
defibrillator. We "match booked" them for their new building project "Growing Homes at the Manor".
International Service:
Members of our club visit the Dominican Republic at least twice a year to identify needs, work with
communities, and fund sustainable water, literacy, and dental clinic projects.
We donate to and support the
end of Polio with a 5 Rotary club fundraiser each October.
