Sports Teams in Action On Wednesday some of Year 5 and 6 children competed at the County Cross Country Championships at Priory Park along with other schools. The boys A team ran the course in a time of 21:15, and came 41/119 schools. The girls A team ran the course in 25:57 and came in 72/103 schools. Well done to Harriet, Natalie, Sabrina, Tayla, Ben, Xayn, Archie and Louis. You all looked great in our school colours and we are all very proud of you! Parents in Action! Glacial Challenge for Paralympic Skier Sean Rose (Thomas’ dad Year 1) is taking on a challenge of a life time when he travels across Europe’s largest glacier using a snow kite. Sean will fly out to Iceland on 5 April and he will take on a 300km journey across Vatnajokull which includes seven active volcanoes. If you would like to sponsor Roger and Helen, please visit www.justgiving.com/HH‐RR‐tandem‐challenge Easter Service The end of term service took place on Wednesday 2 April at 2.15pm. It was lovely to see so many of you there sharing in our Easter celebrations. Morning Procedures As you are well aware we changed the morning procedures from the children lining up in the playground to being able to come into school freely from 8.40am to settle to an early bird task. This has had a very positive impact on the children’s wellbeing and learning. There is no longer a crush in the cloakroom and it has allowed the teaching staff to start activities promptly at 9.00am instead of 9.15am. In effect this has given an extra 15 minutes of learning daily, over a one week period this equates to 1 ¼ hours and yearly over 45 hours extra teaching. As a staff, we feel this is very beneficial to the children who all run through the gates happily and smiling! Parking Please do not park on the corner of Greenfields or opposite Greenfields as the school bus is finding it difficult to turn round. Milk and Fruit Orders for both milk and fruit have been made for the first half of the summer term. Unfortunately no more orders can be accepted. School Lunches The cost of school meals for the first half of the summer term will be: 22 days x £2.10 per child day = £46.20. Please can I ask you to credit your child’s ParentPay account accordingly. Newton Primary School, Caxton End, Eltisley, St Neots, Cambridgeshire, PE19 6TL
